I searched and did not see this mentioned anywhere, So I thought everyone here must see this poor guy.
I have had some success with reloads, however I have heard and seen with my own eyes some horror stories. I personally just have no use for reloads and I police my own brass and sell it back to shops for minor discounts on new ammo .

This video made me set my opinion and decision in stone!

I'm less afraid of my .50 handloads than just about any others. Between the size of them, the expense of the components, and the fact that ten of them is plenty, I think I pay more attention to each step than I do for any other load. Assuming that I didn't just completely blank out and grab the can of Bullseye or something, I can't imagine what would go wrong with them.

I dont reload, So I will not trust anyone elses either so Im stuck with new only. I prefer federal.. but sometimes budget changes that.

Who made some bad 50s? Was it vulcan?
A guy blew one up at widowmaker range houston. Tore him up good

You will have to watch the video above, I believe he mentions the source of it in there. maybe? I dont remember.

True and I observed this early on in my reloading. The bigger the cartridge, the less the room of error. There's just alot more space and supplies involed and its much easier to notice small details are off when its bigger.
My first 44 Mags were right on the money . Its the smaller calibers that take me more fine tuning to get right.

I fired enough .50 out of an M2 back in the day to get my fix. On a vehicle mount, with the brakeless muzzle blast going away from you, it was not too bad. However, I fired a few shots out of a .50 cal rifle with a huge brake, and that was totally enough. The sensation of the blast working its way through your sinuses is not enjoyable.

This was supposedly factory ammo. What makes you think it was a reload?
That's the giant question. Allegedly these were SLAP rounds, which are typically factory-only. But, between KB & Serbu, these may have been "assembled" elsewhere and then resold as 'factory.'

The sabot petals hitting the brake are currently thought to have caused the overpressure.

I remember some posts on the topic a couple months back. It might have been this forum or another... Someone was insisting the SLAP rounds he was using were fakes. Someone else showed that there had been variations of SLAP rounds over the years and his seemed like they could be one of the variations.

FWIW I can't see how the sabot petals hitting the brake would cause what is shown in the video. Sure the sabot hitting the brake could cause issues and damage the muzzle brake. At the point in time where the projectile is leaving the barrel the pressure inside the firearm has dropped like 90%. Whatever happened to that firearm, happened the instant the round went off and when the pressure was at it's peak.

in the video his look to be blowing out right at the chamber, not at the muzzle. Basically from what i seen was the case exploded in the chamber and blew the reciever apart, sending schrapnel back and to the side.

Another Vulcan blew up on Hot Wells Range in Cypress.

Off topic:

For years i was the firing range/EOD advisor the Saudi National Guard. Every year the range had multiple kabooms from failure to set head space and timing on Ma Deuce. One soldier bled to death after a piece of the cartridge case struck his femoral artery.
