I am absolutely grinning from ear to ear.

I just went out to get our mail and I had a letter from the Department of Safety. After just 4 weeks wait I have received back my permit. Even after, as noted in a previous thread, I accidently omitted to denote my 'race' on the application form.
Full marks to TN for being punctual in this matter.
This has been a very eventful month, first I became a US citizen, then I registered to vote, and now I am a Carry Permit holder.

The only problem is now I want that Para Ordnance LDA Carry more than ever.

Just got back from my errands, but with my Taurus 24/7 .40 for the first time. It's very windy here today so I was printing far more than I wanted in the car park. Walked through the store with the feeling that everyone could see, although they very likely couldn't.
I will need to spend some time researching holsters. Well, once I decide what my carry gun will actually be. I'd like a single stack .45, preferably a Para LDA Carry Option but I will start looking at revolvers now. Lots of nice revolvers...

We had better watch out for you. Now that you have a CCP and will be carrying a firearm, you will undoubtedly have the urge to commit homicidal acts on a large scale. You were normal person before the CCP, now you will be transformed into a mass-killer.

At least that's what the minions of Sarah Brady told me.

Congrats on the CCP, you've joined the club. You can now enjoy your Second Amendment rights just a little tiny bit more by permission only. At least you will be able to defend yourself more effectively, and make society as a whole more safe.

Way to go! Las Vegas is so anti they throw every hurdle they can in our way and take 6 months for the permit. When I first applied they actually took longer than the law allows (they don't care, they're the law!) and then they don't take cash - only money orders and cashiers checks. My permit expires in November and I have to start the renewal process in June! :barf:

Congrats. You have done a lot more in one month
than many do here in Corruptfornia after years &
years of residence. That is becoming a citizen.

Same thing with getting a permit out here in way too
many areas. One can be born here, no criminal record,
be an upstanding citizen and contributor to his or hers
town, city, or county and STILL be denied the
right to carry a concealed weapon. Now if there isn't
something wrong with this picture..

bg,
FWIW here in TN we are allowed to obtain the permit prior to becoming a citizen, it was merely a coincidence that I got my permit just after naturalizing, I applied while I was still British but a legal resident here.

Is anyone bothering to get naturalized in CA? From what I've seen there's a trend to not bother. [/irony]

Congrats on the permit, Real_Name. I've had one myself since back when we were required to have a $50,000 bond.

Also, just a minor correction: It's just a carry permit. Concealed is not required here, although it is considered wise. ;)

Agreed, although I wouldn't be suprised if we have an increase over the next few years, if we have an economic downturn and/or more disasterous weather.

They are looking at me

Kind of makes you self-conscious for a while. soon you won't feel right if you don't have it on you. I talked to an acquaintance last night at the grocery store--he was expounding on how he was going to get a permit, and how easy it was. I just nodded my head, and felt the cold steel against my right arm--I don't think I smiled.

Congratulations. I'm a bit jealous, as I'm still waiting for mine. Now, I've already received my Utah (30 days) and Florida (about 90 days). Strange to be able to carry in around 30 states, but not in my home state, NV. Hopefully, it will only be another month.

Actually, it's supposed to be 120 days. Was Bill Young Sheriff when you got yours, or Jerry Keller? I hope my experience is better. It's one thing to wait the full 120 days, and another to have them take longer. There will be a new Sheriff in January, so it will be interesting to see how he approaches things.

I have not noticed an increase in my desire to off strangers since getting my CHL. It has remained at the same pre-CHL level of about three to five times a day that I have to fight off that urge. Luckily I never even consider using a firearm. The people that get on my nerves are the ones that incite the urge to do away with them with your bare hands. :D

Congratulations

Some of got to be Americans by dumb luck. Others had to make a conscious decision, qualify, and pass a test.

I am quite happy to be one of the dumb luck group. I am also happy that my wife is one of the others.

Congratulations..... On All of you accomplishments in the past month.

(becoming a US citizen, registering to vote, and your Carry Permit.)
