if a person knows (or has reason to know) they are prohibited, then, they do have a duty to inform, correct?
This even if it requires admitting to having ex/exes with RO/TRO; serial 'dating' and the like.

If a person knows that they are prohibited from owning guns, the law doesn't require that they inform others in the general public (including boyfrieds/girlfriends) of that fact. (Generally, depending on the crime or situation.) But it does require that they do not purchase, or accept a gift of, or even TOUCH a firearm.

This has probably gone far enough for now. If the OP has any further questions, PM me and I'll reopen this thread.

If that were true, it would be state specific...I'm pretty sure it is a matter of suitor beware

Didn't you get the memo?
We're not giving any benefit of the doubt around here any more.
That's a little hash ;)

My experience in the Family Law Courts would let me weave a story much like:
1. GF and BF infatuated with each other
2. GF buys BF nice gift
3. BF has another GF
4. other GF finds out about first GF and demands BF fix it
5. BF refuses...after all GF (1) got him nice gift...and gets mad back
6. GF (2) gets mad and gets a DV restraining order
7. GF (1) finds out and makes BF and ex-BF
8. GF (1) wants gift back

OP needs to put the gift behind her...it is gone. If the case is not as describe above, see a lawyer, tell the truth and take responsibility for her actions
