Local shop surprisingly had a bunch of new Vector HK's, .40, 10mm, .357 sig and some .308 carbines as well as pistols.

He had one MP5 in 10mm w/ full stock that already had a down payment on it but he let me handle it. It is very light, felt like an airsoft gun, I don't remember the select fire 9mm MP5 I rented weighing that little. The bolt hold mechanism is perfect! The bolt release is very ergonomic, located within easy reach of where your left thumb is when you have a normal grip. The 10mm magazines seemed very cheap. They were straight mags (not-translucent like most in pictured) made of Zytel or a polyer with ridges throughout the exterior, they seemed way too light and weak, but the paddle mag release was very fast and easy to use. All were priced at $1450 IIRC, there were some as pistols but most were 16" barrels w/ the standard 3 lug attachment or maybe they were 8" barrels w/ permanent extensions that looked like extended barrels. I would love to get one of these in 10mm, but I think $1450 is too rich for my blood if it doesn't shoot rifle rounds, plus I would have to spend another $200 to SBR it because I couldn't own a 16" barrel MP5.

BTW, this place also had a 13" barrel DSA OSW FAL that they had w/ a folding paratrooper stock. It was sweet! But at $2000, just too much.

Maybe, but I'd take the mini-OSW in a heartbeat!

As for the Vector MP5/10, I'll wait and see what shows up used for closer to $1K.

That may not ever happen, I believe they are only making 400 units and that is it. Most were spoken for months ago on waiting lists.

I have no use for a semi-auto pistol-caliber carbine.

I have no use for a semi-auto pistol-caliber carbine.

I have no use for a semi-auto pistol-caliber carbine.

I have no use for a semi-auto pistol-caliber carbine.

I have no use for a semi-auto pistol-caliber carbine.

I'm just gonna keep repeating that until the urge to buy one goes away...

Here Here...... !!!!!

While I will be the first one to say that I have shot and enjoyed almost all of the full auto MP5 variants, I would certainly say take the rifle caliber if given the choice.

The handgun calibers are fine for their use, tactical CQB at the squad level. But if your on your own, make sure you have a round that can keep the target down.

IMHO

i'm with you mike. I had some spare cash last month, and after I repeated your mantra about 100 times I went with a couple suppressors instead (but those semi-auto pistol caliber carbines won't get out of the back of my mind.) :D

Yeah, I'm still twitching and muttering that, every time I see this thread. It's working, thus far (actually, the price tag is helping a lot. If that thing was priced like a Beretta Storm, I would have thrown down plastic by now, I fear).
