What guns have you traded/sold off for other guns?

I had a Glock G23C (with 3.5 lbs. trigger) and I just didn't like the ergonomics and the feel of it. The trigger was nice, but not enough. Then again the .40 is just too snappy for me, but even if it was the G19 9mm I would of sold it for the ergonomics. So I sold that years ago.

I sold the G23C for a XDM 9 that I bought locally. It fit my hand nice and I shot well with it. But I just couldn't spend the money on upgrading the trigger or sights (not that you need to). Once I shot a M&P 9 two years ago I think I shot it better than the XDM, side by side, it just felt better. Didn't think anything of it.

Then the next year I shot the M&P9c and really liked that.

Then 3 weeks ago at the same range (every April they have mfgr reps show up with their guns to shoot, 75-125 to choose from.) This time I shot the M&P9 full size and the M&P9c back to back. After shooting both I knew I wanted to sell my XDM 9 for a M&P9.

Just sold the XDM 9 three days ago and am searching on a lot of forums and Armslist to try to get a M&P9L or Pro locally first. If not I'll just buy new. For the M&P I am planning on installing the Apex FSS (Forward Set Sear) which comes with their new Aluminum trigger. Probably will do sights next year or so.

I was subscribed to the "What is the last gun that you bought?" I knew there had to be one similar, but ones you sold? Glad it's revived.

Had a Marlin 336 that I bought at an old pawn shop for $100 when they were having a "getting out of the gun business" sale and used it as trade plus $170 for a Remington 700 Classic 25-06 w/Redfield 3x9 scope. That deal still brings a smile to my face.

Traded an unmatching Mauser model 66 + $300 for an all matching (even mag) refinished S/42 Luger with custom grips.

Overall I don't think I did too bad, but both guns were and are going to be hard to sell for me and the guy I traded with.

sold a mossberg 500 w/ 2 barrels and a feg p9r to fund a bow and some fixes round the house.

selling a stevens 840 and a rossi m68 for a M&P .40c.

Bought a Walther P22 to teach my son (10 at the time) to shoot a handgun. The ergos never were that great for either of us, so I sold it two years later. Added ~$30 to the sale price and bought a new Firestorm 22 to replace it. Sold that one two and a half years later for $10 less than I paid for it.

My first center fire handgun was a SIG P239. It never did feel right in my hand, so I sold it and bought a Browning Hi-Power for $20 less than the sale price.

Wasn't comfortable carrying the BHP, so traded it for a SIG P228, which has been my everyday carry in the six and a half years since.

Sold a S&W 686 because it felt too barrel heavy. Bought a 2.25" Ruger SP101 for about a third less than I got for the 686, and it is still one of my favorites six and a half years later.

Gave in to the 1911 fever and bought a Springfield Loaded. It just didn't feel right in my hand. Sold it and bought a S&W 586 for less than half the sale price. Still have that one. Even with the factory reblue I still have less in it than I got for the Springfield.

So, every one of my trade/sale deals to get another has worked in my favor. I don't regret any of them.

I have thought about getting the 686 back to use in a trade for a 3" K frame. The guy to whom I sold it said I could buy it back whenever I wanted it.

I only trade with my best friend, Rhome. Rhome is a master holster maker (DesBiens Gun Leather), and a pretty good gunsmith. In our last trade, I traded him my Springfield Armory Champion for his H & K USP, and he wanted to trade it back to me for a 586 and Kahr CW9. I agreed, and my Springfield came back to me with a complete meltdown, bobbed grip, Wilson springs, lowered ejection port, custom trigger and hammer, Esmeralda grips and a custom stingray holster for it. I gave him a dirty 586 and CW9. We trade guns often, and he still hasn't figured out why I am so willing to do it. I usually get the gun back in a year completely customized!

What are friends for anyway?

Traded an H&K USP40 for a Colt Combat Elite. I feel I made out well. (Plus, the guy I traded it to included over three hundred rounds of quality ammunition!)

I have traded off several Python's, and Diamondback's,one of the Diamondback was a 2 1/2" .22, do you know what they are selling for. What was I thinking.A Colt Cobra, several S&W 19's, a Model 28, and a couple of model 27's.I almost forgot, two model 66's. I wish that I had all of them back. This was in a 40 year span.I will probabley think of more later.

Have only traded 2 guns, both of which served as down-payments.:D First was a AMT Govt. .45, a lovely piece but unreliable to the point of futility. It was traded on a Colt Mark IV. Lost 70 bucks, gained my absolute favorite piece. Second was a Taurus PT-111. Underwhelming performance and too-touchy mag release. I gave it a hard stare once and the mag popped out. It was replaced by a Glock 26 and I never looked back. It wasn't traded out though, til I bought my Kimber Ultra CDP. Needed some cash to take the sting out of that $950 price tag-ouch. Don't miss the Taurus, but I must admit I'd like to have that AMT back. Now that I'm retired, I'd have it running 100% or have a lot of fun trying.;)

Sold or traded off many to get others.

Best trade of all time was swapping a romanian kalashnikov for my old Ruger tang safety M-77 in 338 cal. I've missed the .338 since I traded it off to get a Whitworth .375 H&H. I've never missed any kalashnikov I've traded off. Good trade stock and range toys. Not very useful in the field.

I'll have a go... I am a broke college student so I have to sell to buy a new weapon.

The day I turned 21 I sold a Ruger 10/22 that I bought when I was 19 to fund my first pistol, a Ruger SR9.

A year later I decided I did not like the size of the SR9 for conceal carry and sold it to go smaller with a Springfield XD 9 sub compact.

Another year later I decided I did not like the 9mm round and sold the sub compact and bought a XD .45 compact.

Lastly the XD .45 compact was to large to easily carry but I also liked a bigger round so I compromised, sold it, and bought a Glock 27.

I still have the Glock till today and love it. It can conceal on my ankle, in my pocket (when wearing shorts), and it disappears when I put in my Crossbread Supertuck IWB holster.

So long story short I started big, went smaller, went to a bigger cartridge and bigger pistol, and lastly ended with a smaller pistol but bigger round than the first two.

Savage model 93 (i think) it was a .22 mag bolt action stainless synthetic
Ruger Mark III .22lr
Kel-tec Sub2000
Saiga .308

I traded the savage because I didn't like it, the Ruger was a mistake to sell, the kel-tec just didn't fill a role that wasn't already covered, and the saiga .308 wasn't getting enough trigger time with the cost of ammo

I had a Remington 700 SPS and a Springfield XD9 I sold off to get my S&W 629-5.
Don't regret it for one minute. Neither of those two were anything special nor did I shoot them much either. Man I shoot the daylights out of that .44 though, love every trigger pull.

Traded a LW Seecamp 25 Auto and a Ruger Blackhawk revolver and spent money along with it to buy a new S&W 686.

I surely took a beating on that one!

I have decided it is best to just keep whatever guns I have and not trade any of them as I have never made out in a trade, I have always lost money.

No way I could remember what I traded for. But I do know in the past 3-4 yrs. I've traded away...Taurus Mod.65 SS, Taurus PT24/7 Pro C (would like back), Mossberg Persuader 12 ga., Taurus .22mag. UL, Kahr CW 40, Sig. P6 (also a mistake), Bersa .380 Thunder Del., Ruger .45LC/acp Covertable. Don't have any plans to trade anything in the future. I really like what I have left.
