I have learned that to find what you like in a firearm you must shoot it first.(most of the time) I have spent alot of uneccessary dough buying guns I "thought" I would like to later trade/sell them for another. I wish every make and model was available to shoot first before you buy, almost like how you can test drive a new car before you buy. Here is my list beginning in 2005 when I bought my first gun on my own.

2005 bought a new Stainless Taurus PT92, I kept it till 2008 to buy a Glock 19

2006 bought an 870 and a Colt AR15, traded the 870 for a M500 in 2007 and sold the Colt in 2009 during the AR15 craze

2007 bought a NIB 24/7 in .40 I hated it and traded it for a Rem 710 man that 710 sucked so I traded that for 597 with a scope for a loss

2007 Tried 40 again in a Glock 23 I hate it as well and traded for a MPA30T, the MPA30T wasn't my style so I traded it for a Winchester Model 12 in 2009, I sold the Model 12 to fund accessories for my M500

2009 Bought a Used Kimber Custom II sold it to a bud and bought a NIB Springfield Loaded, sold the loaded to the same bud and bought a Kimber Tactical. The same friend sold me a Para GI the fit and finish sucked so I sold it to another friend.

2010 Traded a camera for a Colt commander and Sig GSR, the Colt was too pretty and I never shot it so I sold it and bought a Kimber Pro TLE, the Sig was just ugly so I traded that for a Howa. Traded a RRA LAR 8 for a Bushmaster LE Carbine, I hated RRA customer service and the unique parts used in the LAR-8.

I am sure I ain't done yet, guns are kinda like baseball cards to me I guess, but man talk about some lessons learned.

After I bought a M&P 9 full-size, I decided I also wanted the compact version. Sold a S&W Model 13 .357 magnum that I had bought new in 1980 or '81 that I had fired only about 40 times. Love the 9c but wish I hadn't sold the .357. On the bright side, I sold it to my son-in-law so I can see it whenever I want and fire a few rounds through it if I want to.

Only got rid of 3 guns so far...

traded an old .22 single action for a .22 Remington
traded my old 30-30 for a Mini 14

traded my Colt Commander for freedom.. (divorce)

best dang trade I ever made...

Just recently sold my EAA Windicator to pay off my Ruger P95 that was on layaway.
Sold a Ruger P85 to buy a SP 101
Sold my Smith Wesson 642 to a friend to fund my GP 100
Thats about it ,the only one i miss is the P85 that was one tough gun.

freedom doesn't come cheap and sometime's sacrifice's need to be made .

I would have to say, all of them. For a while I was blessed with a great paying job and few expenses. I was able to collect a sizeable collection of firearms from Pre-Revolution to the Civil War. Most of those were sold to make way for a large collection of Winchester lever guns. All but one of those have been sold to acquire S&W revolvers. Almost 3/4s of those were disposed of to get some of the muzzleloading stuff back. So yes, nearly every firearm I have owned was sold to buy another one.

Recently, my fortunes have taken a turn and many of my current accumulation have been sold off to provide a roof and food for my Wife and myself. I am glad I had them to sell.

i traded the first smith mod 13 i bought for a smith mod 27 in great shape several years ago..........................

-I sold a FEG Hi-Power near-clone (visually identical but different internal lockup) to buy a real Hi-Power.
-I sold a Para Nite-Tac single-stack to buy a CZ75 SP01 - and came out ahead.
-I traded a CZ75 SA and two mags for a VGC Sig P6 and 5 mags - and was happy, regardless of value.

I think that's it. I have half a dozen other guns I'd like to own, but budget/time/space constraints will probably limit my purchases pretty severely, and I really like the guns I've got and would prefer not to let them go in favor of anything else.

Who do you trade with? people at the gun range? lol the gun ranges I go to say NO TRADING ALLOWED.

I thought just about everyone that had more than a couple firearms did a bit of horse trading from time to time. I certainly don't want to go into details here. Used to look for deals on anything that I believed would sell quickly. Made gunshows a lot more fun, but it was all nickels and dimes. Got tired of it. Now I just buy what I think I want or occasionally help out a friend.

Sold a Revelation model 200 .30-30 for $150 in 1999 and bought a NEF Handi Rifle in .280 Rem with the money. I loved the Marlin 336 clone, but don't really regret the deal, because I love the .280 Rem.

Traded a 4-inch Ruger GP100 for a Winchester auto 20 gauge that was in like new condition. I've regreted that one since about an hour after I made the trade.

I had a Colt Combat Commander that I sold to a friend of mine a while back when I needed the cash. He told me then that if somewhere down the road he ever decided to sell it, that he would offer to sell it back to me first. I thought that was a decent arrangement and I sold him my gun.

Some years go by, I finally had some extra cash and I really wanted to buy my old gun back. But my friend was someone who once he aquired a gun, he would in all probability hang onto to it forever. So he really wasn't interested in selling it back to me.

However I knew he was interested in the new Colt Officers Model that had just come out, but that he didn't have the money to buy one. Well it just so happened that I had an Officers Model, new in the box, and once I sweetened the deal with the addition of an old Walther P-38 I had, the Combat Commander was mine once more.

I trade with only people I know or people on THR. But I hav enever seen a sign like that at a range here. Is it maybe the state you live in or local laws?

I sold a Taurus 431 2.5" round butt to help fund the purchase of a S&W 696 ND, the 431 was a good firearm but I like the 696 a lot more.
I bought a Romanian M1969 for $69 and sold it for $70, I replaced it with a Toz 78-01 for a $129 with no regrets.
I had Ruger Single Six 22lr/22 mag. I traded for a Rem. 870 Wingmaster. I needed a shotgun for hunting and I still have it but I miss the Single Six :(

I sold my FNP-9 to a friend to fund an FNP-9M with night sights that became available, I always believed the 9M is what should have been the regular size for that pistol. I really regretted it though, the FNP-9 was well-broken in and it had a nicer trigger. I sold a gorgeous polished and blued Hi-Power in .40S&W because I could barely rack the slide. I have a touch of arthritis in my fingers and they put such a stiff recoil spring in the .40 Hi-Powers that I had trouble gripping it. I recently replaced it with a NIB Hi-Power Standard, but it's just the normal black epoxy coating and isn't as pretty.

YOU HAVE TO SELL GUNS!!!:what::what: I have not reached the point of selling ANY of the guns that I have acquired yet. They are presently worth 10X the price of the house and land that they are stored on. Heck the safes are worth what I paid for the house. I plan to keep purchasing at least one a month as long as the job/cash flow hold out .:D

I've only sold/ traded one. A Taurus PT1911 stainless for an EAA witness Elite Match .45 Traded straight up at my local shop.

was broke a few times.:what:. STILL AM.. some would tell me to just sell the guns and have some cash in your pocket. sounds good;)

but if the situation of being broke is going to stick around for some time, i would still like to have some things and be broke then have nothing and still be broke.

if it comes to feeding my kids things would get sold but i would also work harder to make more income.

still feel 2 kinds of people will come out of the way the country is today.

I seldom ever do this -- sell a gun, after all, and you'll regret it at some point, and usually sooner rather than later -- but I did let go of a very nice Walther PPK made in 1941 recently. The only reason I sold it, however, is that I had managed to find an ever better example of the same pistol a few weeks earlier.

HK USP .40 traded for Sig 522 and cash

XD .45 Service traded for XD .45 Tactical

M&P .45 and Sig 2022 traded for FN Five Seven

Ruger GP100 traded for 300 rounds of Hornady TAP .308 155 gr ammo

Bought a Romanian PSL, didn't enjoy shooting it, traded it to a friend who really liked it for a Cetme and some other minor goodies.
Traded said Cetme for a brand new Marlin 39A, love the 39A.
Bought a Universal M1 Carbine, got frustrated with it and traded that away for an early model 1906 Winchester. Love the .22's.

Sometimes you run into a gun that you think you will love, but it just doesn't work out.
