What guns have you traded/sold off for other guns?

My first firearm was Maverick 88 12 gauge, which I picked up used from a friend for $50. I never fired it, but a couple weeks later I traded it (and a few hundred cash) for a NIB 590A1.

My next firearm was a NIB Ruger 10/22, which was a fun range toy, but I couldn't get the thing to run without misfeeding every 3-5 shots. Factory mags, aftermarket mags, match grade ammo... nothing worked. I eventually traded it (and a few hundred cash) for a NIB Glock 22.

I've only ever gotten rid of 1 gun. A Springer XD40 sub-compact I bought as a smaller concealed carry option when I didn't want to lug around a 1911. I found that it wasn't really any easier to conceal than a 4" 1911, so I traded it a few years later for a Kel-tec P3AT plus some extras.

Traded a 98 Mauser, Israeli re-arsenalized, for an SKS and a bunch of ammo (I was younger and stupider then).

Also traded a G-43 to my 'smith for a Remington Model 7, set up as a Scout rifle (rifle, Leupold scope, Burris mount, and the labor). One of my 2 favorite rifles now.

I sold a piece of junk TGI AMD 65 with a gas block placed about a millimeter too close to the front trunnion so that the gas tube lever had to be forced shut with vice grips, which pops back up after half a mag, the entire gun stripped to bare metal and buffed to a shiny silver finish(until I could get around to duracoating it, which I never did), that was shot in the rain and left in the trunk of my car for two weeks before cleaning and oiling and going back in the trunk for a couple months, that lived in a woodshed for a month, and that I modified(ghetto-rigged) the trigger group to fire on both the pull and the release, that I paid $500 for brand new, for..... wait for it....... $750!

Yes. You heard right. Granted, I threw in 5 surplus com-bloc steel 30 round mags, and a few hundred rounds of Wolf FMJ 7.62x39 to sweeten the deal, but I still made out like a bandit on that one. And before someone calls me shady for allowing such a deal to take place, I know the guy pretty well, and he knew all of this.

But anyway, I took that money and went and bought a Polish Tantal AK-74, and 1080 rounds of 5.45x39 the first day the stores were open after the holiday. The Tantal is a Century build, but it far surpasses anything I've ever seen with Century's name on it. Looks, feels and shoots as a proper AK should. Chrome lined bore of the proper diameter, no keyholing with any weight bullet, not a single malfunction of any kind, and I've put about 3000 rounds through it since I've owned it. I love it, and don't plan on getting rid of it.

This past year has really been my year as far as getting incredible deals. That's only the beginning. This time last year, I sold two crappy sawed-off(at 18.5 inches. I'm not THAT dumb.) Maverick 88s, one with original stock and one with pistol grip only, to fund my Mossberg 590 and all the extra goodies I wanted for it. Then a few months later at the end of last summer, I bought a brand new Bersa Thunder .380 for $100. My buddy bought the gun and a box of ammo, we went out and shot it that day, and then two days later he decides he can't afford it, and sold it to me for $100. It had 50 rounds through it before I bought it, and 25 of them were shot by me. I LOVE this gun, but there is a catch to this situation. I only had it for a few weeks before I found out that you have to do an official transfer when buying or selling a handgun, so I went to my favorite gun store to see what I had to do to make that happen. That's when I found out that you have to be 21 to have a handgun transfered to you, even in a private sale, and I'm only 20. I didn't want to jeopardize my ability to own guns, so even though I had already paid for it, I gave it back to my friend that I bought it from to hold on to until I can legally take possession of it when I turn 21. This was in August. I turn 21 in about three weeks, and unlike almost everyone else I know, I could care less about being able to drink. I just want my pistol and my carry permit! These next three weeks will be the longest three weeks of my entire life.

But anyway, this past fall, I was given a Romanian bolt action .22lr that shoots 1.5" groups at 100 yds with Federal Auto match ammunition, and a really nice shooting rest for a half hour of recording time in my studio.

A couple weeks ago, I bought a Mosin Nagant 91/30 in fantastic condition with a perfect bore for $70. I know that isn't all that great of a deal, but it sure feels like it was.

Then this past week, I bought a Remington 722 in .222 Remington for $50 off a friend who needed the money. The gun is 50 years old, in perfect condition, and shoots .5 MOA. I am posting a thread about it in the rifle country section, so if you wanna hear about it, check there.

I bought a Mossberg Silver Reserve O/U 12ga and could not shoot for crap with it. I was shooting trap by the way. I took it in to my local gun shop to have the appraise it and sell it on consignment. They asked me if I had ever shot it. I took it as a compliment to my cleaning habits and how I like to keep all my firearms. Anyways I sold it on consignment took a little loss and happily bought me a new Ruger Mark III 22/45.

08, Ruger Super Redhawk .480Ruger traded for a Glock G34, never looked back.
09, got rid of GSG-5P for a Mossberg 930SPX, GSG will not be missed.
09, traded a beautiful but not such a good shooter, S&W model 59 for my concealed carry pistol a CZ 75D PCR.
10, sold a S&W model 19-2, put the money toward a custom shop STI 1911.

I've only ever sold one gun, a Glock 26. The plan was to sell two other guns as well in order to obtain a M1A. I never could sell the other two guns and decided to be happy with what I had. I don't really miss the G26 though.

Still dreaming of the M1A.

Hello friends and neighbors // I've only sold three in 27 years no regrets, all are replaceable none gifts from family or friends.

-First sale was a Mossberg 500 combo 12ga. synthetic shoulder stock/pistol grip with 18 1/2" or 28" barrels I bought for $150.00 in 1985. I was used to shooting a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12ga. 28" Ventilated rib and could not hit skeet nearly as well with the Mossberg round barrrel. A highschool friend loved the pistol grip set up and offered $200.00, I wanted a $400.00 Ruger Redhawk 7 1/2" .44 mag so I said yes.

-Second sale was the Ruger Redhawk .44mag for $450.00 when I found out Dirty Harry used .44 specials in his .44 mag "for better control". (JK):D I needed a transmission in 1993 and had little time for reloading. At $2.35/50 compared to $22-25.00/50 it was the only way I could afford to shoot .44. Not a firearm for another sale though, back to OP.

-Third sale was a Linead .45/.410 single shot derringer. When all you can afford is a $60.00 dollar pocket gun it will do the job. It kicked pretty good and I did not like the safety or the protruding firing pin(if the hammer was in the wrong position when closing after loading you could have a ND). but the Linead went bang every time. It was a good beater. I sold it for $90.00 and bought a S&W 442-2 1 7/8" No lock $400.00(recommended by folks here) As you can inagine I'm am very pleased with the upgrade.

First time I ever sold a gun was a few weeks ago. Sold a XDm-40, and used the proceeds + cash to buy a new Kimber Crimson Carry II.

Vektor SP2 traded for Bersa .380 traded for Sistema 1911 traded for Sig P6 (which I've had the longest of any of them and am quite satisfied with).

In the last 2 years;
2- Bersa Thunder 380-cash
1-Russian IJ-70 380-cash
Para 7.45 companion-cash
Glock 23- cash
Glock 27- M&P9c
Glock 30-M&P 45c
Glock 21- M&P45 FS
Taurus 1911-Dan Wesson CBOB

In the past year I've traded......Taurus mod 65 SS .357 mag., Mossberg "Cruiser" 12 ga. pistol grip, Taurus 8 shot .22 mag. UL. Traded up on all of them, so there was cash going out of my pocket as well. Back to the store where I purchased them. Replaced with 1958 mod. 14 S&W 4" .38 spec., 1972 Ruger .357 Security Six 4", and Kimber .45 BP Pro II. Except for a small semi auto for CCW, I pretty much have what I want. May end up with a Bond Arms 3" before the end of this year. And the 9mm CZ75B. But I'm in no hurry.

I traded a Ruger KP-89 for a 6" Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. I traded a (then) new Browning High Power(HATED IT!) for a Dan Wesson Model 11 .357 mag.w/Bill Jordan Combat grip, a brand new Snap-on tool chest, leather border patrol holster,100rds ammo AND $127 cash(the guy REALLY wanted the BHP!). There are way too many other trades to list.

I am glad that I have the 1911 I originally wanted, but i could have lived just as well with the glock 35.

A lot of handguns where traded last year, but I kept 1 pocket, 1 full size, bolt rifle, semi auto rifle, and shotgun

I owned a WASR and sold it to get a SIGMA-HATED IT!!! I sold it to purchase a 1911. I owned a PTR 91 and sold it to purchase another 1911. I had a Turkish Mauser and a Steven's 20 gauge I sold to buy ammo. I traded my SKS for an almost new Remington 870 with a .30 inch barrel and an 18 inch slug barrel.

i regret selling every gun i sold

sold a barely used keltec p11 maybe 100rds-100$ in trade for ruger 22/45
i had a glock27 and didnt need the keltec9mm

sold a EAA windicator 4in .357 never fired 100$ in trade
i got a used S&W 66-2 .357 much nicer trigger

i never needed the money but id pay 100$ i made to have them back
just to give them to family

Over 40 plus years I can't remember them all; maybe two per year average. The ones I regret are a Colt New Frontier, a 700 BDL .30 '06 and a Ruger three screw Blackhawk.

I've traded & sold a lot over the last 50yrs, next on the block is a Beretta Mini-Cougar in 40cal. My son usually "borrows" any he likes when he visits. He has stocked two safes so far, but keeps them locked when I visit. I don't hunt much now so I really don't mind except for the scoped handguns and he knows the ones Grandpa & Dad used are off limits until I croak.
