Yeah, a fellow just gave me a Makarov when I moved up here! Seriously! He was a nice guy and showed me around the local ranges. Had an incredible collection of vintage Winchester leverguns, unfortunately I wasn't all that aware of the different types back then and much of his discussion went over my head. Sadly he died of a heart attack right after his retirement a few years back.
My father-in-law gave me his old Stevens Favorite that he'd had since he was a kid (he's 75). It's chambered in .25 Stevens Long Rimfire, and ammo hasn't been made since 1942, but someday I plan to have a .22lr barrel fitted to it, and give it to my son.
Sure, my wife gave me a Walther PPK for our 25th anniversary.
Of course I got to go to the gun show, shop for the best deal,
and pick out the gun I wanted.
But then, she picked out her 25th anniversary diamond ring, too.
Yes, when I was 14, My grandfather gave me a Savage .17 HMR rifle (http://www.savagearms.com/93r17BTVS.htm), with a scope. He holds on to it for me, as we unfortunately live very far away New Hampshire and New Mexico, but hopefully that will soon change. It's a beautiful gun, and a real tack-driver. There's virtually no recoil, so it's a dream to shoot.
My Grandfather presented me with a Kimber Classic Gold Match (pre II).
To this day I don't know why he did it.
When I asked him that question, he responded "I just thought you should have it".
My son gave me a Browning High Power Practical 9mm for Christmas 2006 while he was at home on leave from his deployment to Iraq. It will always be in the family.
I've never received a gun as a gift, but believing it is more blessed to give than to receive, I have given guns to nine or ten friends and a couple of in-laws.
Yep a bunch. My wife has given me a Rem 700 BDL 7mm mag,Kimber crimson carry edition,Para cco, and a TC Omega along with a Leupold Vx3. I love my Wife!!!!!!
My wife got me a M77 scout style in .308 I had been drooling over at the local shop. I wasn't happy one day when I stopped in one day and it was gone. (had been there 6+ months with no interest) Showed up under the Christmas tree months later!
