HD night stand: your pick?

I like all of your choices but I prefer a wheel gun for HD in the nightstand. 2 a.m. bleary eyed and adrenaline flowing I prefer Cock,Lock, and Rock to an automatic.

Glock 21sf with a surefire tlr2 is my nightstand gun. I have plenty of other choices but I like the simplicity of the Glock. Remember that a nightstand gun is almost certainly going to be needed when you've just been awakened from a deep sleep. You will not be at your best so a KISS gun is, in my opinion, the way to go.

On the other hand. . .
I did just get a Pedersoli Howdah, 20 gauge side by side, 11 inch barrels. Tape a light to the barrels and it would make an awesome bedside gun!

The G21 is sitting a foot away, on the nightstand.

The 870 is just a few feet further.

Mine would be and is a SIG 220R DAK Carry with a TLR 1 It also has night sights. Like a well tuned revolver with a magazine. Currently loaded with 230 grain Rem Golden Sabers I'm sure it will keep me well protected untill I can wake Mr. Benelli. Like has been stated I dont want to make any permanent mistakes and shoot a family member the DAK trigger while long is smooth and light and I can back off it anywhere in the pull and not have to worry about it going off unintentionally. The shorter barrel of the carry model makes retention in a scrap easier as an added bennifit.

I voted for the Glock as it would be my pick if those were the only options. Fortunately, they're not my only options.

Currently, my nightstand gun is a Ruger Speed Six with a front night sight.

Glock with a light, for sure. No safeties, decockers, or any other such things to get in the way when I can hardly even effectively reach for the thing.

RBid. no hard feelings , I see how you miss took my sarcasm . and I like most on this sight would like promag to start making drum-mags for the 1911 again, ... I voted 1911 only because there was no mag revolvers on the list , shoot a 357mag or a 44mag in a small dark room , and you will see why , bad guys will be blind and deaf

Note: I load my mags with W296. so my night stand has a S&W 19-5 357 mag , but at the foot of my bed is this MEET Savannah Mr bad guy , not sure if she has eaten today

My actual nightstand gun is whatever I was carrying that day. They are all Glocks with night sights - G26, 30 and 36.

of the list I actually have the usp on night stand duty and have had a couple of 1911's over the years play this role as well. if I had the glock 21 and sig 220 those would do nightstand duty as well. these are all excellent guns. I probably wont use the 1911 for this anymore because I don't want to worry about a safety when im awaken by the bump in the night. plus with the capacity and the light trigger pull I don't think its the best option for me anymore. all my carry guns are da/sa or striker so I want to keep it similar for when im half sleep and trying to figure out what's going on. maglite and 870 right there as well

How about, "whatever gun you will hit your target with."

I have a former student who keeps a Walther P22 in her night stand. Makes me cringe every time I think of it, but she's confident and accurate with that gun, and hesitant to shoot anything else. If she's ever in danger, I'll take a hit with a P22 over a miss with a better gun any day of the week.
