Well, deer season is in full swing so lets see 'em.

-First day rifle
-Family farm / deer trail to meadow
-Kneeling next to a large tree
-8 A.M. (in position only 15 minutes)
-10 yards
-20 ga. w/ Remington Slugger
-8 Points

He took his time walking up the trail. He kept stopping and looking at me but the trees prevented me from taking the shot until he was 10 yards away.

My first Colorado buck

This is my first buck. He isn't a record setter, but for my first buck I am happy. I took the shot somewhere from 130 to 150 yards with open sights using a .270 win. There are four solid points on each side, one sticker (of about an inch), and two brow tines (of about two inches). Count them any way you would like.

I took him in Southwestern Colorado at about 7:30am on a clear sunny day.

MZ Buck

My first buck taken with a muzzloader. Range was 110 yds. Buck was standing broadside slightly uphill and looking at me. I used Hornady .44 cal 240 gr. XTP in a Hornady sabot in front of 2 - 50 gr. Pyrodex .50 cal pellets. The shot took out both lungs, a rib on each side, and left a 2" exit hole.
After the shot, he ran about 50 yds before falling over dead.

That's a big boy, DDawg. Judging by the time on the camera, you may have to break the law to get him though. Not that I would ever advocate that. Just saying he may be hard to kill. Best of luck. Hope you get him.

My dad sent me these two photos.

J Morris: those are farmed deer, a captive herd fed huge amounts of high protien foods, to get that size rack. Pay a big fee, shoot 'em in a pen. Look closely, you can see tags on their ears. Nice rack though.

Hank,
That’s the first thing I noticed, still huge enough I had to look close to see if it had been photo shopped or not.

My dad killed this one last year while I was at work.(arrrghh)
Hasnt gotten it back from the taxidermist yet.

Gun season hasnt started yet here, but it does this Saturday. Unfortunately Ill be hunting even less this year, as well as dad. He didnt hunt that much last year, and was very lucky to get that deer, as he was getting ready to leave.

Thats a nice pic of the farm deers, unbelievable how big they can get when fed the right stuff and no hunting pressure. I dont really understand the need to spend big money for a "guided" hunt to shoot an almost tame animal inside a big arse pen. Not just deers, bear hunts are worse. Sit up a tree in the woods right next to bait barrels then just pick which one ya wanna shoot. I guess I just dont have that kinda money to throw away, but I know several ppl that enjoy it....More power to em.
But on another thought, most of those farm bucks(esp with ear tags) bring far greater money in by selling the semen to deer breeders, than any one hunter would be willing to pay.

Happy hunting folks,
Matt

ok, the first 2, was the last deer I shot, 05, mine was the one on the right, my dads on the left, mine was a 6x4, 26" wide. my dads was a 3x3 20" wide. the last picture was of a guy I know who we were camping with, it was shot 2 days before I got to camp. He shot it at 250 yards with that .30-30 lever, open sights. His scored 224-4/8" 13x14, 32" wide. We think mine might be an offspring of his, due to the similarity of the racks. All deer were shot within 2 miles of eachother.
I used a Winchester pre-64 mod 70 in .270.
My dad used Rem. mod 700 in .270.
Both with Burris 3x9 scopes

2hours ago

I shot this doe to fill my tag with a ruger 77mkII IN 6.5X55,
measured at 346 yards.
Head shot so I didn't waste meat. This Gun Is Not For Sale!:D
