Helmke Speech: Guns, Politics, and the 2nd Amendment

I knew Helmke in college, 68-72. He was somehow elected student body President at IU. Other than the weight gain and the poofy hair (wait a minute...he had poofy hair even then), he ain't changed much. Another politico-blowhard with a vision with himself as the Redeemer. And that's when he was 19.

I think he went to Harvard Law School.

He went to Yale Law School, where he was friends with both Bill and Hillary Clinton. I live in Fort Wayne, where this speech took place, and he was interviewed on the local news earlier that day. He said that he thought Hillary would make a great president. And this guy calls himself a Republican. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing. Then again, I guess they all are any more.

I met Helmke and Souder when they ran against each other a few years
ago (both are Republicans). I had not met either of them before in person
and listened to them as they presented themselves at a party meeting.

Helmke's perma-pasted smile didn't sit right with me back then and I felt
Souder was the better candidate. Turned out Souder won. Good thing, huh?
