1. The reports exist, and they are not uncommon. They are from PDs and training facilities without something to gain or personal attachment to an opinion. If we are talking about a range toy, then who cares?

2. Get what you want and shoot.

2.a If it's a defensive piece, the rules change. You might get a problem free pistol, you might not.

3. Why take the chance when it's your life on the line? Get serious and get something proven, move past the emotional attachment.

1. "training facilities" is the_KEY word.. as I said, most don't know how or why their guns work or how to keep them working.. they're issued, not like their home guns.. but

2. It's the same for anyone, "knowing one's gun" no matter the make, and having gone thru 500 rounds, flawless, no problems, etc..

3. While someone is "stuck" on the emotional attachment" as I mentioned in my upper post, talk to the people, by the 10's of thousands, that use their Px4's day in and day out, year after year, and harbor no prejudice, other than, like any of their, my, other handguns, they all "must pass muster" or else they get sold for something else, be it SA, Sig, etc., and one's chances of getting a "lemon" are the same with Px4's as it is with Colt, SA, Sig, etc., etc.

OP, any gun must pass the test of fire, ongoing fire, and for my hard earned money, the Px4, some Sigs, and an SA are among my proven investments not because of what others say, good or bad, but of what I got, proven results, that any of said guns can get up and go 1000 rounds without worry, and that kind of day is FAR off in some zombie land movie, yet to be made..

I own an FNX-9 and have shot a few rounds through a PX4. I shot the PX4 well but didn't care for the sights much.

I've got about 400 rounds through my FNX with zero problems. The recoil is pretty light considering how little the pistol weighs. I like it's big ol' white dot front sight, but would like fiber optics better.

Admittedly without doing much research, I would say that either would be a good choice. I can vouch for the FNX (although I haven't had it very long). And I liked the PX4 that I shot. Here's my FNX:

This is the kind of post one gets when they remove snobbery & emotion from the equation & instead replace them with logic & common sense.

I had the same 2 in mind. I got the FNX-9. Beretta was $475, FN was $500.
Beretta pros -
multiple sizes available. full, compt, subcompt. I only considered F type
Adjustable sights available.
More accessories available
FNX pros-
safety/decocker is on the frame, not the slide. (some would complain the the lever on the storm would distract your aim, being near the sights.
FN has 3 17 rd mags
I consider the rotating barrel a gimmick, no history of how it will hold up
FN is lighter. 22 oz vs 27.7
Sights on the FN are great.

They are very comparable guns across the board.... it should come down to best pricing/availabilty. I dont think you'll regret either one.

I don't have a px4 but I do have a FNP-9 USG and I love it!

I love alot of the features of the fnp/fnx, but the size and wieght seem to be my favorite, it's lighter than a glock. It has the same take down lever as a sig and a decocker with a safety so if you want to carry condition one you can.
