First, the back story. I've owned several Glocks over the years. None of them lasted more than a couple of months. I didn't like the plain-jane black plastic pistols. They never meant much to me and they always became trade fodder within a month or two.

Fast-forward to present day. About two weeks ago I did some trading to acquire a Gen 3 Glock 21 with OD green frame. I love this pistol. I think the simple color change helped a lot. The gun shoots great and no longer feels like a huge plastic brick in my hand. It actually pushed my Kimber off the night stand and back into the safe.

Here is the dilemma. I am thinking of trading my absolutely sacred, beloved CZ 75 for a G17 and a CZ 452 Varminter for a G36. The 75 has been my favorite pistol for a long, long time, but I realized recently that I never shoot it. It's only been to the range once or twice in the past year. The 452 is scary accurate, but I just don't have the time or space to shoot it like I used to and a carry gun just makes more sense right now.

I guess my only concern is that I will regret the trade later, though I can't think of any trade I've ever truly regretted. Saving and buying the Glocks isn't really a viable option. My wife and I are just beginning to recover financially from losing our jobs on the same day just before Christmas.

So I guessing I'm just looking for some of that sage, old THR advice. What do y'all think? Am I nuts. Is it an impulse trade? Thanks in advance.

My own observation:
Glocks are not all created equally. People complain about grip angle, but the truth is that the G21SF has a very moderate angle, and it has practically no hump at the bottom.

Compared to the G21SF, the G17 has a much steeper grip angle and that funny hump. So it may not be just the color that finally turned you around!

After shooting my G21SF, when I pick up a G19 it feels like a phaser set to stun. The G17 is similar to the G19, only more uncomfortable because of the hump (to me).

One thing I've noticed when handling a G21 is that, with a wider slide than a 17 or 22, it's not as easy to work the slide release, which doesn't stick out as far. I think if I owned one I would add a Glock factory extended release. It's the same kind that comes stock on the 34/35. Have you noticed this, or am I just nuts?

Not nuts. The G21 slide stop is just a hair flatter against the frame, and mine was noticeably stiffer out of the box. The first time I pressed it, I did a doubletake. But once I knew what to expect, it's not any more difficult. It's just different.

An extended slidestop is a good idea if you can't reach or operate the normal one, but it might not work for you on all models. For me, the grip angle puts the slide stop in the way of my grip on some Glock models. I need to shorten the stop on my G19!

If you like the CZ 75B then do not shoot a Glock G34. I never considered a Glock... until about 3 years ago. I shot a Glock for the first time at an intro to IDPA /IPSC sports. hosted by my local sportsman's club. By the end of the month I owned one. The accuracy and ease it shoots makes it the perfect pistol to start shooting matches. I still use it for Production class, it was my best shooter until my STI Trojan 9mm came in September. I may never get another
Glock ( mine is the perfect pistol), but I was never going to get a Glock. Never say never.
