Help me decide - Which OBOMINATION Pistol should I buy?

Umm...It means made in the USA. The HK is not.

Umm .... not so fast, oh, MaterDei. Let's take the awesome combat pistol, the HK45, for example. Made by Hechler and Koch, right? Right.

Well, not so fast, oh wise one. Guess who designed this wonderful gun? Larry Vickers - an American. An American Special Ops veteran with more than 20 years service in the ....... you guessed it, AMERICAN military. Delta Force to be exact - I would think that his AMERICAN know-how and experience would go a long way to developing an effective combat weapon. Say, like the HK45.

Not enough? Hmmm, well lets look at where they are being made. Yes, some are, indeed made in Deutschland, but some are also being made by Wilcox Industries in Newington, New Hampshire. They haven't seceded from the Union yet, have they? Last I checked they were still in the United States. I bet their employees are ........ American too!

So, I say again, what does Made in the USA mean anymore? World economy? Hey, I just checked and the slide on my Springfield Armory 1911 says, Made in Brazil. Hmmmmm ........

FNP 40 or 9mm. I have a .40 and I love it. You can get them in DA/ SA de cock safety as well as a DA/SA cocked and locked vs. with de cock and safety. It shoots well and has a changeable back strap to fit diff. sized hands. It was accurate as well. I have put 1500 rounds throught it without any problem. FN is a good company and they stand behind thier products. I have several (7-10) other firearms instructor friends who have one of the fnp .40's. One of them had a problem with the de-cock mech. He sent it in and got it back very fast and no charge. I don't carry this gun for my duty gun, but I would. It isn't my favorite but it is up near the top of that type of weapon I have and use.

Buy whatever you feel like, since you seem afraid that soon you won't be able to (an unfounded fear by the way).

Sure, right.

I have narrowed the list down to:

  • HK USP (safety available)
  • STI
  • XD (Like that 13 rounds of 45 - yeah I know made in Croatia)
  • M&P (No safety except of one model of 45 that is hard to find)

Seem to be limited to getting a safety only if go with 45. Still undecided about 45, 9mm or 40 cal.

Fun show in two weeks and I hate to impulse buy. Just about every time I impulse buy it is a bad choice and I end up eventually selling my purchase. All I can predict is that NO dealers will be dealing...

Any further comments?

Much appreciated!

I'd say two good options available that meet your criteria are the S&W M&P45 w/thumb safety and a Ruger in .45.

Well, I keep flip flopping (gee, just like you know who...)

Now I am kind of leaning towards the M&P9C. 12 rounds and you can adapt it to take the full size 17 round mags. Yeah, I am giving up the thumb safety.

Ill bet the FN FiveseveN will be banned so I would put that one up there.

Made in the USA you say, maybe Springfield XD(doh, Croatia), maybe a Glock (right.....Austria) well how about a nice CZ (eastern Bloc), HK USP (dang it, Germany),

I guess Ill limit my options and some more and only buy guns made in my state, or my own town, or my own house.

I bought a PLR-16 as my middle finger to the oncoming regime. It looks scary (which is the real reason THEY want to ban them), it fires a serious combat round, I COULD hunt with it if I needed to, and it fires the same round the feds use, which means I'll be able to find ammo for it somewhere in the future.
