Help please: Scope base mounting question

I'm trying to mount a set of Leupold Dual Dovetail bases (#50042) onto a Rem 700 VSSF varmint rifle. The rear base interferes with the bolt handle if I mount it with ring end pointed backwards and it slightly overhangs the ejection port if I turn it around and put the ring end forward. Is this normal? #50042 is the correct set of bases for the Rem 700 according to the Leupold product guide, but are the mounting holes drilled differently on the VSSF?

Alot of times the rear scope mount will hang over the ejection port, this is the way you will have to mount it.
