I was at the range on Sunday to fire a few test loads through a rifle and a hundred or so rounds of .38 Special through an old S&W M60 and my stainless 3" GP100.
During one of the breaks I struck up a conversation with a young guy (40-ish). He was a PRS competitior just firing a few test loads. The conversation centered around the availability of components and powder in particular. I related that I had inadvertantly doubled up on 8 lb jugs of my most used powders after my wife and I "downsized" a couple years ago. In the course of the move I had "lost" my 8 lb jugs of 4166, 4451, 4350 and 4831. I then replaced them with new ones bought locally. He asked if I was willing to part with any, so I sold him one of the 8lb jugs of IMR4166 for what I paid for it plus $10. He offered $40 more but it isn't in me to profiteer off of my stupidity (stashing my powder where it took me almost 2 years to find :uhoh:) and his misfortune.
I doubt I can shoot 16 lbs of IMR4166 before it goes bad or before I go on the "Last Great Adventure".
Heck, I still have 14lbs of IMR4831, 12 lbs of IMR4064, 17lbs of IMR4350, 12 lbs of IMR4451 and approx. 20 single lb bottles of other different powders, including 2lbs of Bullseye! :what:

Obviously, I'm not hurting for powder, but he was and it felt good to help out a fellow shooter in need. :)

Most of my combing the country side and internet the last year and horse trading components has been for people who where not prepared or someone that I have gotten into reloading the last few years. Trying to keep them reloading it will be awhile (years) before I run low:)

I have sold off a lot of my excess powder and primers to some of my friends. I still have plenty left over even after selling 24# of powder and 5K of primers.

Yep, I've passed a few components around myself. Jug or two of powder, brick or three of primers, bullets in weights they needed and I'd probably not ever use.

It does help, especially those who are new and haven't been in it very long.
