Help with a .22 rifle

Short of a suppressor, you're not going get subsonic .22lr down to pellet gun noise levels. To do that you need to use either CBs or Aguila Super Colibris.

You should be able to find a used single-shot .22 for under $100 if you want an excuse to buy a new gun, but your 10/22 should work fine cycling the rounds by hand. I have an old Winchester 121 single shot (21" barrel) that I've used with CCI CB shorts and longs, but it is not much quieter than in my Marlin 795 (18" barrel).

Okay, I found some Aguila ammo called .22LR 20Gr Super Colibri around here for sale. I forgot my dad has a Winchester model 61 floating around his house. Pump action so it may cycle?? Of course, if I can't hit a skunk at 50' or less I should probably hire a removal expert.
Does this combo sound like it'll be around as quiet as a cough?
If so, I'll strap my Surefire LED to the barrel, hang out until the dogs start barking and ninja the little stinker.
By the way, the chocolate was a bust. I know he was here last night (saw him), but he didn't take the Hersheys. Also, I tried peanut butter balls with powdered asprin and gopher bait. The balls were gone the next morning, but the skunk (or a relative) is still around. Checked for prints around the area where the balls were and there were only skunk prints (no coyote, dog, javalina, cat or otherwise).

Any non-autoloader with CB rounds will do the trick, I enjoy shooting my Henry Lever Carbine with CCI CB shorts, and it is a LOT quieter than any semiauto I've ever shot regardless of ammo. Not pellet gun quiet, but you could get away without wearing plugs to use it (wear plugs anyway, it can't hurt).

Action type makes more of a difference than barrel length, ammo selection also. I like the CB shorts from CCI, if you have something that only feeds .22LR-sized shells, there is a loading from Remington in LR size with low velocity and a bullet that is (in theory) designed for the low powered round, they call it the C-Bee and it is the only Remington rimfire product I'd buy again.

Marlin 981T is 22 inch barrel to help out with the noise. Also shoots shorts, longs, and long rifle. Going for 275ish on gunbroker now. Can probably get it for cheaper if you look around.

One of the better choices would be a CZ 452 Trainer or the slightly more expensive Lux version which has very good open sights and a 26" barrel.
