help with revolver grip; blast pierced my thumb

I also hold mine like Earl, though I get my hand higher up on the backstrap by a little bit.

Thats also similar to how I hold a semi auto, which I don’t shoot as often. I know that’s not the preferred grip for a semi auto but I also don’t want to accidentally grab a revolver with an aggressive thumbs forward grip and have my thumb injured because I’ve left it hanging out past the b/c gap. The downside is that I don’t control the recoil as well as those that use the thumbs forward grip on an auto.

This is the way I do it. It wasn't taught to me it's just something I developed shooting hard kicking revolvers. It provides for a good solid hold that will keep your thumb out of harm's way.

The technique @MaxP demonstrates is also an excellent method of gripping hard kicking revolvers.

The reason I don’t customarily use it is because I do not want to mistakenly use a grip similar to that when I shoot a semi auto.

I get that sentiment, but I never misidentify one for the other as they feel nothing alike. But that’s just me LOL!

If I stepped up my game a little and get into those .50s then maybe I will be forced into it. :what:
