I have a Browning X-Bolt Hell's Canyon Speed LR, it is chambered in 6.5 PRC and I mounted a 5x20 Trijicon on high Talley light weight bases/rings. I did lightly lap the rings and made sure the 2 piece bases where lined up. When I went to the range to sight it in I ended up using all but 1 MOA of the right windage adjustment. I don't know that I have ever had to make that much of adjustment before. I really like the rings but was hoping to be closer to center. Am I being too picky?

I have disassembled everything and when rechecking level I did notice that the front base is level but the rear is not. Could there be something wrong with the rings/bases or is the receiver drilled and tapped slightly off center.

Wow’ what mess I wound not be happy, although the caps being off slightly doesn’t mean the bases are ,I think you’re beyond that part. Since you’ve already lapped them they are junk…
Did you have other bases that were ok you took off or is this brand new rig?

Can the rings be swapped front to rear or side to side. Looks like the base is part of the rings.

At last resort, shim the scope in the rings. A soda can is about. 004" thick. May need 2? 20221105_105829.jpg

This is a new gun, scope and rings so these are the only rings I have for the gun. The Talley light weight rings and bases are 1 sold piece of aluminum.

I know I could get Leupold bases and rings that are windage adjustible just wasn't sure how to tell if the base or receiver is off.

Guess I could get another set of bases and see if they are level.

With the rifle clamped in position, swap the rings front to back. That'll tell you if they're the problem or if it's the receiver.

Appearance it is the rings, when I installed the front ring/base in the rear it was very close to level.

I will contact Talley on Monday.

Thanks for the suggestions. I really wasn't sure if what I saw as a flaw was really a flaw. I would expect an off level ring could throw off windage. Everything else on the gun appears straight. I did pick up some leupold bases and rings that can be adjusted for windage should new talley rings not fix the problem.

Here is the picture with the leupold rings installed, nice and level.

This isn't a knock on Talley, they have a great reputation and I expect they will make this right.
