I am asking for people to contact the people listed below and ask about WV reciprocity. Also ask about honoring Non Resident VA Permits. If they would do that then most people could get legal in WV by getting a VA Non Resident which you can do by mail. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Do talk nice as shouting does not help.

This is the woman who is in charge of the area of Reciprocity and all I ever get from Her is we are working on it.

So send the emails and call and write. The more the better.

I received an email this week from Scott Varner, Delegate for Marshall County. From my understanding he's working on an automatic reciprocity bill to introduce in WV. Also, all gun bills go through the Juduciary committee, Jeff Kessler heads this committee. I contacted him last week to help push some type of automatic reciprocity through, since the Governor hasn't signed anything since he's been in office. He said he was meeting with someone with the NRA on Friday. I plan on emailing him Monday to find out what happened.

SB 26

SB 26 tells the AG to look at every state every year and if they will honor a WV permit WV will honor theirs. That is the bill we need passed. It has not been introduced yet in the House. I jsut found this out today.

Gary,

Thank you for postng this information. This is exactly what I need. We have some land in WV but as a MD resident my only chance is to get a VA non-resident and have WV honor it.

I'll send my letter off this week.

I Just Sent the Following

I am a senior citizen licensed to carry a concealed handgun in thirty-four states.

Since retiring my family and I have logged over 100,000 travel miles, spending the majority of our time and money in those states that afford us the greatest level of safety. This year we planned an extensive stay in your beautiful state.

West Virginia is an open carry state, but I prefer not to carry a handgun in that fashion. Since WV doesn’t offer non-resident permits, I obtained one at a cost of $100 from Virginia based on the WV/VA reciprocity agreement.

Imagine the disappointment when I read the following in the Legal Section of the WV State Police FAQ page: “Virginia has recently begun issuing non-resident permits. West Virginia is in the process of determining whether Virginia non-resident permits will be honored and that information will be posted as soon as it becomes available. “

We’ve changed our spring travel plans and will now spend the month of May in Arizona. Hopefully, this matter will be resolved quickly and we can once again consider West Virginia a destination point.

Sincerely,

Don Pollock
