Here we go AGAIN!

i find it interesting... and sad that the too locations cited have some of the strictest gun control. but dont tell that to a gungrabber.... it will just prove it wasnt enough.

i lived on base for the better part of 2 years till i got married and honestly i had no expectation that the base cops would make it to the barracks soon in the event of a shooting.

i did live with 2 PJ's at one point and both of them kept pistols near their beds, apparently they had somewhat of a "hey you guys cant do that" agreement with their unit and it was overlooked.

granted i know several guys that carry on base (im not one of them) but i still dont feel as safe as i would if i was actually allowed to carry myself.

Not AGAIN ... but still. They never stop. They never will.

Disregard the fact that both shootings happened in "gun-free zones"; one on a military base (that concept still baffles me) and one in a public park.

By the time you're admitting to a "creeping resignation" among your side, you're just making excuses about why you lost.

I'd like to ask Obama exactly which of his "common sense laws" would have prevented the Navy Yard shootings? Universal background checks? Closing the "gun show loophole"? Establishing gun-free zones? Seems to me that all of his suggested laws just contributed to the ultimate outcome.

I just read a comment in reference to the Chicago shooting reffering to the gangbangers, thugs, gangstas, etc as "Urban Terrorists".

This is ingenious.

Because, essentially this is all they are. They want to terrorize people, and spread fear to earn respect, and be feared. Terror. Terrorist. Plain and simple.

The Department of Homeland Security should take a look at these indigenous homegrown terrorists the same way they look at the enemy. After all, we are in a War on Terror right? Detain them in camps indefinitely, even just based on known terrorist ebonics, clothing, music etc. This is extremist behavior, bragging about killing people who don't claim the same set or look at them funny? I mean, I even saw a memo declaring Combat Veterans like me, "potential terrorists" from them. But gangbangers who actually terrorize? Nah.

I think PJ and Sam are correct. When talking about gun control, I try to remind those who enjoy firearms that there is a constant threat of our rights being taken away. It's important for all of us to make our voices heard by educating those who are willing to listen to facts and contacting our elected officials and hold their feet to the fire like in Colorado!
Unfortunately out fight is never over.

those evil clips must be to blame for this one.

Pizza, let us introduce you to the fine art of irony and sarcasm. :) Stressed is simply using a bit of hyperbole to show how the current leadership's words and policies fall a bit short when taken to their logical conclusions.

Hmmm... Well, if that is the case then yup... I missed it this time. Read faster than i was thinking i guess.

Sad thing is, i have definitely seen statements very similar to his that were NOT sarcasm and the person defend it quite vehemently.

"As long as there are those who fight to make it as easy as possible for dangerous people to get their hands on guns, then we've got to work as hard as possible for the sake of our children ... to do more work to make it harder."

Yet, on the day of the Navy Yard shootings, even while people were "sheltering in place" and police were still searching for the perpetrators, the administration waived restrictions on providing arms to groups known to support terrorism, in order to arm the Syrian opposition.

Obama waives ban on arming terrorists to allow aid to Syrian opposition

A new push for gun control, at this point, by Obama would have no chance of success, and Obama knows this. He's making these noises now to gin up his base, which is becoming severely disillusioned with him because of other issues. It's sad that grieving families are being used so callously in this way.

He's not INTERESTED in preventing shootings.

He's interested in preventing YOU from having a gun. That, for him, is an end in itself. Anybody who tells you different is a liar.

Until you grasp that, none of this will make "sense".

This stuff drives me nuts because I tend to agree and side with Democrats on everything but gun control. I've sent numerous letters to my dem elected officials begging them not to support gun control. I think it's mainly a rural vs city thing. I'm always wish washy when voting. I never know which way to go. :(

Exactly. You cannot change them (Obama, Pelosi, Reed, Schumer, the list goes on), you must educate and influence fence sitters to vote with us.

Find, promote, and support pro gun Democrats. They do exist you know.

A note from Colorado to gun grabbers everywhere:

Dear Gun Grabbers,

It has come to my attention that you are continuing to promote increased gun control. I would like to recommend the services of former Colorado State Senators John Morse and Angela Giron. They are both staunch gun control supporters who have learned valuable lessons in that field. As it happens, both individuals are recently looking for new employment opportunities.

Sincerely,

The People of Colorado

Yes, there are some very pro-gun Democrats out there. Unfortunately, many of them don't make it very far in politics, as so many Democrats favor gun control.

I'd love to see a pro-gun Democrat running against a truly pro-gun Republican for President next time around. Maybe I could actually get some sleep on election night!!

Back on topic, Obama has never seen a tragedy he's unwilling to exploit. Any activity that can even remotely be tied to "gun violence" will be spun by him and his cronies to push for more gun control.

To use some of the antis logic, if I may use that word, against them; obviously since so many of these shootings have happened since 2008 it's got to be Obama's fault.

That makes as much sense as many of the droppings from their lips.

By the time you're admitting to a "creeping resignation" among your side, you're just making excuses about why you lost.

The creeping resignation we keep seeing and hearing about in the media is a strawman. Either anti-gun politicians or the media, or both, have fabricated this.

There is a creeping resignation? Really? Why? Because they say it exists?

I don't know a single person who has gradually become OK with mass shootings being a normal part of life that we just have to learn to live with. Its just like anything else the media makes up. They invent things to create a buzz that will sell subscriptions and increase readership.

They better think twice. Look at what happened to them in CO. They were in a Dem stronghold and still lost their State Senate President and another gun grabber senator because they trampled on the rights of their constituents. I think we need some more recalls.....let's fire these people and teach everyone a lesson on what happens to elected officials that act like this.

Unintended Consequences is a book everyone should read. And you won't find a pro gun Democrat in Oregon, only ex Democrats that are pro gun like me. I wrote my national legislators who are all Democrat but one and said if that if they voted for any more gun control bills that I would never vote for a Democrat ever again. They basically said in their replies goodbye and good riddance. Never will I vote for a Democrat again after 40 years, I will vote for the for the devil himself as long as he is not a Democrat.

Not that this was my point before, but I do think there's perhaps a bit of an awakening realization that yes, we still have cancers/monsters/defects/devils in our midst (always have, always will) and that no matter how civilized and modern we all have become, nor how soft and "peaceful" life seems to be, normal folks just like us sometimes die in violent and horrible ways. And it is probably healthy that we face -- and to a degree accept -- that this is so.

Being shocked and grief stricken doesn't help us be wary and prepared.

Not so much an Obama fan. More like not a GOP fan.

Don't forget the Bush 41 & Reagan signed anti gun legislation so lets not just act like its Obama. Don't think for a minute that Romney wouldn't sign an AWB. He did as governor. IMO, ALL politicians at that level are anti gun. They dont want us peasants being armed. We've had BS gun laws going back to suppressors being class 3 to the sporting purposes clause and so on. None of these dems or reps do anything about it.
