Hey. im new, but have been reading THR for afew years now. i shoot alot, but my mother (yes i still live at home) does not. in fact she has never shot a hand gun. i love to hike and she comes with to sit in/at the truck because she cant hike (ankle problem). recently, she got a bad vibe from a truck passing by her. it stopped and sat there for about 15 seconds, then moved on. she got spooked (i wasnt there with the snake gun) and now wants me to leave a gun for her. any ideas as to: A) teach her to shoot a handgun, B)what type, C)what caliber. im short on funds, so $250 or less.

i guess i could always leave her the mossberg 12 gauge and hope for the best. problem is, i need to convince my parents to get the handgun. I can pay for it, i just need them to provide the ID. my mother says she wants me to leave one for her when we are out there, but at home when i bring it up with my father, she denies it. its frustrating, being under 21 and such.

I purchased a Smith and Wesson 442 .38special for my mom. Because of a similiar incidence. She shoots it with 130gr's just fine and loves the gun...ran me about $512 all said and one. I know its more than what you were looking for but as for that price range I am not sure what is available other than a cheap mossberg or 870 shotgun.
