New shooter driving me nuts

Take a crayon and write 'Sig 210' on the slide of a glock 17.

Judging from her maturity level, that should do the trick.

Friends don't let Friends date psychos ... Be glad she's your friend's problem and let him deal w/ her ... After all I'll bet he's the one reaping the benefits of dating her ... :)

I know someone she would be perfect for. A kindred spirit, as it were.

Dunno, after the 36 hour technical discussion of how the P210 is the best platform in the world she might end up hating the P210 and saying... "maybe a 1911 is better."

Breakup follows.

Total relationship time lapse: 37 hours.

What do I do now? I'd like to tell my buddy that she is a psycho and RUN AWAY but that's not cool.
Why not?

I've been in a simular situation. Cars instead of guns. My buddy's wife drove a riced out Civic, I drove a beat to crap Fairmont that I built out of JY parts (with a few new parts thrown in). Nevermind that my Fairmont was faster hand handled better, her Civic was still better and she always let me know that.

We met up one day and she tagged along.

Her: "Where are you going?"
Me: "Leaving."
"But we just got here."
"You just got here, that's why I'm leaving."

My buddy was pretty ticked off at me, but I told him that she was his wife, so he had to deal with her crap. Not my wife, not takin her crap. Got in my car and left. Last time I really saw either of them. I saw her a short time later on I26, she blew by me doing about 90mph. Throwing maturity and my better judgement aside, I returned the favor and passed her at around 135...

Friends don't let friends date immature psychos. Sounds like an intervention is in order.

But in all seriousness, if she were my significant other, I'd let her sell the car, buy the gun, but wouldn't drive her anywhere that she needed to go. As an adult, she consciously made the decision to sell her car.

Also, it will be funny when he takes her to the range with her beloved, perfect P210, and you STILL outshoot her with your "plebeian, rack-grade, production" Sigs.

Well, I'm about to buy a P210-6 and hope she'll get to shoot one sometime.

If she does, make sure the hammer bites her well enough to get of her high horse.

Why do I buy one? Well, always liked nice things and for now can afford them at times, but I bet that most people who shot well will outshoot me easily, the P210 won't make me shake less, will it now.

Similar story about 20 years back... roommate with 10+ girlfriend accompanies us to range; Steve with his S&W 39 (or 59, whichever is the hi-cap) and me with my series 70 Goldcup. She shoots fairly well with both, but opines that she could "really show you how it's done" if only she had her Dad's Detonics Scoremaster which, wouldn't you know, her Dad sold for some reason. Went on like this for a few weekends until I wrangled another friend's Scoremaster for an afternoon. She ended up shooting the Detonics ok at best (short sight-radius, I think), my GC best, but enjoyed the 39 more. She ended up buying an 8 round Smith 9mm and was pretty good with it, and no more Detonics gab. 20 years later, they're married, bunch'a kids, and she does all Steve's reloading.

My thinks you're spending waaaaay too much time worrying about something that is really NOYB. Idiots are easily ignored. Just add another layer of hearing protection and keep shooting.

I don't see what the problem is. She doesn't want to shoot your guns because it isn't a P210, fine, don't let her shoot your guns. Big deal. If she wants to buy a SIG 210, good for her; what is that to you? If she doesn't want to learn until she has HER gun, so what? If she buys the P210 and can't perform with it, then teach her to shoot WITH HER GUN. Good. If she does perform with it, good! Are you just offended because she's dissing your guns?? What is the problem? Doesn't she have the right to shoot and own the gun that SHE wants? Not necessarilly the one that her boyfriend's friend wants?

I have bad news for her. A P210 is a good gun, and most are more accurate than run-of-mill guns, but it is not a miracle gun. My S&W Model 52 will shoot rings around a standard P210 and so will a good Luger, not to mention a lot of good revolvers. Believe it or not, even with a 210, the shooter still has to do her part.

she sounds not only insane, but close minded.

Sigs are great guns, take it from me, but S&W, Ruger, and many other "mass-market" guns are great.

They did afterall, become mass-market guns for a reason. and Sigs are also becoming increasingly produced and marketed----what will she do when they become "mass market" guns?

Maybe she just wants a single action pistol, (many females do not like the long D/A trigger pull of "duty" guns) and doesn't know that other companies make them.

"I think it'll A. turn her off of shooting or B. Make her wise up."

Why do we want to turn her off shooting? She wants to shoot with a gun of her choice! This is a good thing, not a bad one.

...

Well, IMO, she's showed the world her playing cards, aces and eights..

Not the best hand to bet ones world on..

Lousy shooters blaming the gun. So what else is new? Seems about every other week or so we'll get somebody in an M-16 class that can't hit the broad side of the barn during the 25 meter zero then claim that they are doing everything right and it's the gun. We then take the same weapon, put a couple foam earplug out on the target line a pick them off with that same "bad gun." That shuts them up!

I dont know many shops that keep $3000 guns up for rent. But I am sure most of you didnt know that a 210 is that expensive.
What? you have to pay $3000 for a P210?
I don't know that P210 is that expensive.
Here in Switzerland you can get Army model P210 for approx. $750.
Same price like a new Glock.

and Sigs are also becoming increasingly produced and marketed
You mean SigSauer not SIG they are different.
SigSauer = Mass produced German gun
SigArms = Mass produced in the USA
SIG = true Swiss made hand gun. Originally a Service pistol for Swiss army.
Year of issue 1949. Swiss call it "Army pistol mod. 49"

All P210 was sight in for 50 meters (55 yards) discontinued years ago. But here in Switzerland you can still find a lot of P210 for sale (Army model)

Even with a P210, if she don't know how to shoot with iron sight and don't have a clue about trigger control a P210 will be useless.

Because of those crazy chick over there, we don't sell our P210 to US :p

As they say, crazy in the head, crazy in the bed. We're gonna need some pics to make a further determination.

Evan, are you even checking back here? Wha't happened to you?

You never said where this gal got this fixation. Has she ever fired a P210 or has she just heard about it? Chances are if she's never fired one, she'll be in for a shock.

When my brother was a kid, he hated peas. But he kept seeing an ad for DeLany Peas. So he made up his mind he wasn't going to eat any peas but DeLany's. Eventually my mother got fed up with his whining and went to a different store just to get him some DeLany Peas. Guess what? He didn't like 'em. Why? He didn't like peas, and all the advertising in the world wouldn't change it.

Somewhere this gal got it in her head that she wants a P210. If you want to have some fun, convince her she needs two of them. Tell her that only by shooting two slightly different guns of the same make and model will she ever truly master the art of shooting. And when she can't hit the target with her first one, tell her that's the reason.
