I just came across an issue and was wondering if anyone else experienced it? I was shooting my HP9MM the other day and was doing some fairly decent groups at 50yds when I noticed that about 5 rounds were outside the red. I moved over to the 25yd targets and after about 30 rnds I noticed a similar pattern. Obviously, not as bad but still there. I opened a new box of Winchester 115grn FMJ and the first thing I saw was a different colored primer. I started checking the rounds and in that box there was some visual inconsistency in OAL of some. I opened different boxes at home later and used a micrometer on them and they were all within .003 of nominal with about .001 in diameter.

I started thinking about it and when I would shoot the 124grn NATO the groups were much tighter and less likely to sway. The same with my Ruger SR9. Both brand new, at 60ft the group is almost non-existant. All over the place. But, at 30ft they aren't bad. Then I recalled that they also tended to do that with the SR9 also. Out of 20-30 shots with consitent conditions and a very tight grouping, 4-5 shots on the outer rings. I know I'm not that bad a shot so I was wondering if anyone else was seeing random inconsistencies with Winchester White Box?

generally, i have had inconsistencies with almost every type of store bought ammunition. That is one of the reasons i decided to get into handloading.

I have found the white box to be a little better than some of the other ammo i shoot though. You may have got a bad batch.

I had issues with factory ammo, but none with my reloads.

I have had some FTF with reloads but I think it is more too narrow feed lips on the magazines. Next time out I will try widening the lips abit and smoothing some of the rough edges.
