Hi-Point Firearms - A different take

I agree 100%, Hunterdad. Just their customer service alone should win the hearts of every man and woman here, they are a model of what every company should offer. Not even to mention that their guns aren't really bad at all, and their carbines are downright excellent. Can't understand how someone could hate them. Guess it just takes a different kind of man.

You all quote "you get what you pay for"...When you buy a Hi Point you get exactly what you pay for, and much much more. If you have no first hand experience with one of their firearms then you have no right to bash them, simple as that. I've converted three haters with my 995 alone, they all went and purchased one after they shot mine.

I've shot a 995 in stock form and with the ATI stock, I still bought a CX4 Storm... I didn't have to get an after market stock to make a brand new gun functional, better trigger, and it uses 92fs mags I have laying around.

And it has been covered over and over again... Hi Point serves a purposes, the same way Kias do. It offers an accessible option to people that may not otherwise enjoy shooting sports. If you have a Hi Point, great, enjoy it. If you don't, enjoy that fact and stop worrying about those that do.

Some Hi Point guys need to stop trying to justify themselves, some snobs need to stop caring.

I agree that anyone can order from those dealers and have $35 to $50 tacked on for shipping and transfer, BUT unfortunately there are a lot of non-gun savvy folks who have never heard of FFL transfers.

And this is where forums come in - we can educate people on such matters.

Gee! Golly! Wow! I own a Hi Point 9mm also. It may be ugly, but I hit what I aim at and have no problems. I've put about a thousand rounds through it and still haven't had any problems. I love my Hi Point. A friend of mine got a .45ACP and he abuses the heck out of it and no problems. I think we both made a good purchase when we got them. Nough said from this pea nut gallery.

Good article.

While there are a lot of people that bash Hi-Point pistols I would rather have a Hi-Point than nothing if my life was in danger.

Just because Hi-Points are cheap does not make them a criminals favorite pistol. Can anybody give statistics on violent crimes where firearms are used broken down by gun make?

The biggest reason I don't buy a Hi-Point is its looks. It is downright hideous.

I have never heard anything bad about a Hi-Point when it comes to reliability.

I actually got to take apart a Hi Point this weekend. Ugly as sin, but it shot well. No FTF. Totally have a new respect for a 160 buck new gun.

I know two couples who own a Hi-Point pistol as their only firearm. They are good people living their lives and working day to day and I was unaware that they even owned a firearm for years after knowing them. They couldn't negotiate the expenses for a better firearm from their spouse but they wanted something, just in case. I'm glad they have the Hi-Point option instead of a broken down antique or other questionable firearm in a marginal caliber.
