Hi Point pistols, well worth the money!

So it is zinc. It was just a guess because of the mass. I don’t know much about it but I was in the electrical supply business for most of my working life and zinc fittings were the cheapest of the metal fittings, way behind iron and steel. So it is obvious cheap gun use cheap material.
It has steel where it is needed. Such as the small parts, barrel/chamber, etc. The frame is polymer.
 
I have the 995TS carbine in 9mm. I can't get through a mag without a jam. I have 8 mags, all new factory hi point mags. They all do the same, fail to feed, or double feed. I would not own another Hi Point...
