Yes I have a Hi Point .45 I want to sell. Shoots fine, never jammed, it is the older version(with the older type clip), just got that Hi Point big bulky name. So what should I ask for? Whats a good asking price for a Hi Point .45? Now I understand somebody will say 10 bucks, but it's a good shooting firearm. So what the going rate? Thanks

See now somebody is always hating on Hi points, which I see all the time. But as far as it accuracy, recoil, or jams none has ever happened. Due to the fact that I keep buying guns I need to get rid of some and I am looking to start saving some money for another .45. I hate that these guns have a bad reputation, seeing how this one has not earned that reputation.

I afraid the other folks are right. Around here they're associated with wanna-be gangsters and street punks, so the "gun snobs" have no interest in them. They're also ugly as home-made sin, and since they're available for about $100-$150 brand new, they don't bring much used.

$50-$75, tops.

If you like the gun, I'd suggest keeping it. You could probably sell blood or something to get $50.

Its not worth selling, just slide it in the back of the safe and forget it.

I had one of those way back when I first started shooting. It was my second pistol ever. I didnt have any problems with it either.

What about the Hi point .45 and my 12 guage maverick shotgun(which I have shot 5 shells through total) for $200, that might be a pretty good deal? What you think?

I'd agree that most gun-buffs aren't going to be interested in a Hi Point, either because they have an aversion to them (warranted or no), or because they have plenty of nicer guns.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there who'd want to buy it for $75 or more, just to have around. Trouble is finding said folks. You could post it as a "FTF in (your city)" in the THR Sales forum, or could take it with the next time you go to a gunshow and tape a ".45 Pistol, $75" onto your back (seriously, that's what I did once).

It's not that it's a bad gun, but your primary market is a) folks without gun experience that just want a basic gun that shoots. b) gun-folks who are willing to accept the HP makes a solid, basic firearm with no frills, and need a tacklebox/trunk gun. I'd say $50-$75 would be pretty fair to either, with gun-buffs at the lower end of the scale due to preferring new generation, and newbies at the higher end (or more) since they'll never find a comparable deal at the pawnshop or Wal-Mart.

Heck, at a gunshow I'd start it a $99 for the first hour and tick the price down until it sold or I got tired of browsing. Maybe you could trade it for cheap bulk ammo at the next gunshow? If you were in Austin, I'd definitely give you $50 for it...

If the gun is as reliable as you say it is then your best bet is to just hang on to it. I guess the best way to put it is would you rather have $50 or a .45 that is perfectly funtional with a lifetime warranty? Besides, it might not be a Kimber or an Ed Brown but it beats the hell out of a stick and a mean look on your face!

I'm not bashing the Hi-Point line, I'm stating my opinion on what one is worth used. Combining it with you economy Maverick shotgun you should be able to get $200.00 for both of them if you're patient. Hi-Points do get good reviews on reliability. The real question is how long will they last considering what they're made out of.

Who knows, maybe you'll luck out and run into someone like my stepfather who would actually pay $200.00 for one:D

ARE YOU STILL SELLING THE GUN AND SHOTGUN...LET ME KNOW

Keep it as a loaner. Any of your friends wants to start shooting, you can lend them that and not have to worry about it getting dropped on gravel. Any of your friends suddenly feels the need to be armed, and you could just give them the darn thing and not be out much money.

If you really don't care about it, and it's not work much, why sell it? Why not just put it and a box of .45s in the bottom of your SHTF/disaster kit as a backup, and forget about it?
