It will do it's job, you'll need to do yours. Same goes for any other gun I suppose. I haven't seen any bare/unfinished metal anywhere on my C9, other than the bore. If your humid climate is going to attack your Hi Point, I'd think you'll first notice it on the magazine.
The polymer frame is obviously not going to rust. The steel barrel, magazine and action parts can, and while the zinc alloy slide will not rust, per se, it can still oxidize and corrode. But with any kind of decent ordinary care and storage conditions, this is a moot point.
