Higher end scopes.

Yeah I don't think I've ever seen anything but the lower end scopes come with rings as a standard feature.
I don't believe the burris come with caps either.

I just ordered a bunch of cheap flip-up caps for my scope simply because I tend to bang stuff around and I know I'm going to break them.
Ring wise I tend to go with Warren Tally or something similar.... So even if a scope does come with rings, and I have a few of the did, they usually get chucked out pretty quick. I've only ever had one scope cause me grief after the initial unboxing and testing, but I've had cheap rings fail on me a couple of times.

For rings, Warne and Burris (specifically the Sig Zees) are my go to. I do have a set of cheaper Weaver quad locks that have worked fine as well but I definitely have more confidence in the Warne and Burris rings.

Regarding the flip caps Butler Creek are pretty much the standard. They aren't the toughest but mine have lasted fine. I have a pair of Monstrum ones on my AR scope and they've worked fine as well, actually "feel" a little tougher than the Butler Creeks IMO.

Here's something to consider: I like my scopes to ride as low as possible and some caps require high rings to accommodate them. Consequently I don't use caps. I've had screw-in caps from Leupold, which look great and work fine to protect the lens, but are very slow to take off and on. Once off, they can be easy to lose, so I certainly understand the appeal of flip-ups.

None of my Burris scopes came with caps . One of my Vortex did. All my others scopes either have Butler Creek flip ups or see thru bikini caps.
For rings, I use either Burris, Weaver Tactical, or Leupold, all others get trashed or given away.

I bought a Bushnell tactical z223 scope a few days ago. I should have saved my money. Today I happened to find a Leupold Vx3i on sale/ much better.

Trivia, my father worked for an optical company that made the glass lenses for Unertal Scopes which were considered excellent scopes in their day. John Unertal offered my father a position in is company. My father was content with his employer at the time thus did not accept the offer which was made multiple times over the years.

They replied to my email about my order.

Hello,

Thank you for your order. We apologize for the delay with your order, there was an error between the Burris Online Store and Our emailing system. We normally receive customer order as soon as they are placed through Burris Online store, the communication with those two systems where down. We were able to catch it yesterday. Your order was placed 3/24/21. And will ship out in 1-2 days. Again, please accept our deepest apologies for any disruptions this might have caused.

That's good they got back to you relatively quickly. I try to give companies the benefit of the doubt when it comes to that kind of stuff. In my line of work, we (Probation) use a different system from the Circuit Clerk, but every once in awhile something breaks down and causes a problem (which is generally a bigger issue for the person in question ) and it really isn't someone's fault or oversight.

Scope arrived today.
I ended up. Putting it on my Savage 17HMR. The tube is kinda short. I couldn't get it back far enough for a comfortable eye relief and cheek weld on the 30.06. Had to deal with wind today. I don't think i did bad with the winds at 100 yards. The wind sure likes to throw them little 17 grain bullets. The cross hairs is pretty neat in it. There what i call a fine line. Adjustment clicks are very quiet. But were easy to adjust for zero. I'll fine tune it in a calm day.

Personally, I don't touch Vortex scopes that are below the Viper line, they just aren't that good by my eyes. Viper and above they are pretty good for their price.

If it were me and knowing that you are probably looking at a sight it in and forget it type of scope. I would look hard at the Leupold 3-9x40 Freedom, one can be found $250-300 online.

EDIT: Just realized that I missed the next two pages of the conversation and posted at the bottom of the first page. Guess you made your decision, hope it all works out.
