Highest round count in a single gun?

55K+ on my Springfield Loaded model 9mm 1911.

Very nice. Any major parts replacements needed? I've been seriously contemplating a 9mm 1911. I got rid of mine when I decided away with the .45 cartridge, love the .45, love the 1911 but decided to downsize my cartridges.

It pains me to think, Its been a goal of mine to get 20k through one pistol or rifle but with this shortage I'm not gonna get there very fast. I have close to 10k ea through a couple glocks, maybe 6-7k through my oldest AR. Some of you guys with the high 50k+ round counts make me jealous. Hopefully things calm back down and we can go back to enjoying shooting/sporting life as before. I wonder if the trump era is going to go down in history as the golden age for high volume shooters or if things will level back off and be good again. God willing

I think I have around 20k-25k through my 10/22. Still accurate and all I had to replace was some trigger stuff, not due to shot out parts, due to falling and smashing it off a rock. Almost fell off a cliff with it. Last time I buy smooth tread redwings.

Recoil springs, firing pin spring.
Went to clean it after a match, firing pin spring came out in 3 pieces (
I didn't pull the pin to clean there after the previous match so no telling could have been 100s of rounds with the spring in 3 pieces...
Wolf recoil springs come with the FP spring so I change it NOW when I change the recoil spring. (broken one had lots of rounds on it)

Nothing major but it may be time for a new barrel soon.
Accuracy is still good but not what it was when the barrel was new.

A 9mm 1911 is just a joy to shoot IMO.

Mechanical durability of firearms is one of my favorite things to look at, so anyone feel free to chime in!

I'm going to fess up that I don't have the attention span to put 10s of thousands of rounds through any one gun. Nor do I keep track of round counts. The couple of mine with the most have 10k or so.

Kind of same situation here, I can make an educated estimate within a couple thousand rounds but I always wonder how people know pretty much exact round counts.... like do they bring a little notepad along with their range bag and document round count. I try to keep an estimated count, but I cant always keep track. If I bring 5 guns to the range with me there is just too much going on there to keep track of what goes through each gun. I basically more or less keep track in the guns I tend to favor and shoot the most. I would like to know the count altogether though. I might bring along a notepad from now on, kind of like knowing how many miles are on your car, kind of. Good thing to know but not critical.

I dont keep round by round counts with things in general. I do know how many rounds I shoot each week with certain guns though, so I do have a pretty good idea as to what those counts are, if I want to sit down and do the math.

I started keeping a kind of running total with the one 17 and 26 I regularly shoot in practice for Gits's & Shiggles's, so I did have a pretty good idea if and when things went down. Even then, they are probably on the low side, as with those two guns, I based the totals on 300 rounds a week with the 17, and a 100 rounds, every other week, with the 26. I really didnt keep track of the other times a week I might have shot them too, which was a pretty regular thing.

Once the 17 broke the rail, I quit counting. Didnt see much point anymore. Id quit counting with the 26 at around 26K too.

We budgeted one brick of .22 Shorts a month for her,,,
That practice lasted until I went into the service in November of 1970.

My younger brothers then took up the mantle,,,
They did the same brick a month for the next 3-4 years.

I still shoot SV .22 lr's through the old gal,,,
About once a month I run a couple of cylinders through her.

She's still as tight as the day she was manufactured.

No idea of total round counts, but I once did 1000 through my XD in a single session. Don't know what possessed me but I wanted to give it a "torture test". It won - I was more worn out afterward than it was...

Has to be my Ruger mk2.i can't even guess how many rounds it has through it.

Though I've shot enough 556 to wear out springs in my AR's, and enough 9mm to wear out 2 extractors on my FEG hi power.

I think I stopped counting on my Colt 6920 at 2500 or so.

Replace your springs and your guns can last a lifetime.

My first revolver, new in 1987 Super Blackhawk Bisley .44 Magnum 7.5”
At least 10,000 240-300 grain cast bullets, all at magnum velocity.

Probably my Astra A-100 9mm, I bought it used and I ran at least 160k through it. Replaced the slide stop, recoil spring, and one other spring 2 years before I had to sell it. It was amazingly accurate all it’s life that I had it. 2nd highest round count Glock 17 at only around 35k, but I’ve only had it a few years.

One of these two. The Diamondback was my first gun. 1975 or so. Bricks of .22 lr Wildcat could be found for around $8.00. That’s 500 rounds. Occasionally I’d buy a case.

Thousands of rounds. Really, no idea.



Got this one in 1978. I was loading 500 rounds of HG #68 semiwadcutters on a Star reloader during the week and shooting them up n weekends for practice or an IPSC match. Did that for several years.

I owned a Taurus 65 with a 3 inch barrel... I traded it off a fellow that reloaded ammo to sell and use .. the 65 was not only his carry gun but his
“ Tester “ for all different kinds of 38 & 357 ammo
I remember spending hours blasting 38 spl Wadcutters at his farm .. grips were cracked/ broken and was taped up with black electrical tape ...
I couldn’t imagine how many rounds went through its barrel before I owned it ... and what I ran through it after I traded him out of it and a mop bucket filled with loaded wadcutters...
He had replaced the firing pin years before.. other than that and the grips .. I put on a new set ...
I traded it back to the original owner , who gave it to his sister .....more likely it rides in the console of her truck

Not an exact round count but at say 1000 rnd per lb of powder in my 9mm,I count empty powder bottles.
(Saving the empties for no good reason...)

I have a Ruger Standard Model/Mk I that has tens of thousands of rounds through it. I didn't keep track but at least a brick of .22LR through it every two weeks for a decade or so, then intermittent use for the next couple decades. The gun has been refinished twice since I've had it but beyond that no parts replacements save swapping out the stock grips for some wooden ones with a thumb rest.

That is sort of what I do. Nothing exact though. Example, if I take two pistols and take 200 rounds I just say 100 for each. Usually when shooting I alternate pretty close. If not I adjust approximately. I do have a notepad in my reloading room. Every time I come home from the range I write down how many rounds I shoot.

H&K tested their p30 series with over 96,000 rounds B4 any problems, Quality weapons and proper maintenance, along with proper storage, will produce an heirloom gun for sure.

That was Todd Green's gun and he wore out a lot of springs getting to 96K.

Mine is nearing 25K. I broke a trigger return spring and I am about ready to send it back to HK for a full checkup and have all the springs replaced.

Anyone who claims they have shot a pistol for more than 20K round without having to replace anything is either lucky of full of hot air.

I have a small notebook in the gun case with every one of my guns. In there is what the gun is, when I got it, what I paid for it and the starting round count, either known, claimed or estimated based on condition, though most of my guns were purchased new over the last 50+ years. In these books also it the date that it was fired last, the number of rounds and the new total round count. Yes, I am anal! If I sell you something, you will know exactly what you are getting.

When I look through all those note books and there are LOTS of them, some show 3 round (factory proof and no further shooting) and some show over 20,000 one, my previous main competition skeet gun well over that. I know of many shotguns that have gone hundreds of thousands of rounds.

I have a 1994 Beretta 92FS with a little over 51,000 rounds through it. No other gun of mine has seen even a third of that total. I spread the love around between a lot of pistols and revolvers on range trips, with a preference for higher-end guns, but my old 92FS remains a pretty frequent companion. Surprising how high the round count can climb over a long period of time with a little shooting here and a little shooting there -- though its lifetime workload is definitely more heavily weighted toward its early years, during part of which time I was a college student without many other guns jostling for my attention.

Second place goes to a SIG P210-6 that's one of two designated shooters among my P210s, with a round count just shy of 15,000. It had fired somewhere between zero and not more than fifty rounds post-factory when I picked it up, but it's a post-1983 P210 and, accordingly, not one that I bought as a collectible. It's the one other frequent range companion in my collection. All the other range toys get occasional turns with pretty long waits in between.

Well, except for the Walther PPS that's the training/backup duplicate to the one I actually carry, but then I don't view that as a range toy. That one is coming up on 12,500 rounds. It should have far more (or, it should have been worn out and replaced, perhaps more than once), but I spend a lot more time shooting for pure fun than I do for training purposes.

Likely that I don't shoot more than 500 a year per gun any way so I don't think it would matter.

My Kimber Pro Eclipse has at least 10k rounds through it, mostly my handloads.
It is the most accurate handgun I own.
Since I bought a Ceiner .22 conversion top end for it, add another 2-3k...although those rounds don't put any wear on it, and if I converted it to a .22 only, I could probably shoot it forever.
