Recently bought a new HK USP 45 expert from Davidsons. Nice weapon.
Brought it to the range for a try out - 200 rounds of various 45 rounds, decent (well, very decent) accuracy and flawless feeding: as expected of both a $1500 gun and an HK. I have an HKUSP 40 and it has never jammed with thousands of rounds through it.
Well I go to try a few Hornady +P's in it and low and behold - it jams.
Here is what happened:
Fired the first round (expecting a big bang but no noticeable difference in recoil) and I notice the slide is sitting a little bit (1/8") back toward me.
Work the slide, eject the bullet, try again, fires once same deal. Do it again. Same thing only this time the slide JAMS and I can't clear the bullet.
Trying to be gentle with it, new gun, but at the same time don't want to bring a gun with a round in the chamber home . . . . and it's 20 degrees out!
Anyway, pictures of the offending round follow. Basically what you'll see is a hollow point with a dent in the top and a scratch on the brass plus. weird scratch on the bottom as well which I didn't take a picture of.
Gun fired fine afterwards, upon cleaning and inspection, no noticeable problems . . . not sure what to make of it. Ideas welcome.
Kinda bums me a bit though - spoiled the HK flawless mystique for me . . . . my brother and his Sig in the both next to me didn't help that any . . .
