Well, its been awhile since I bought a new pistol and having recently renewed my CHL I figure its time. Sort of my own little reward for getting that hassle out of the way for the next 5 yrs.

So I wanted to buy a NICE pistol - naturally the HK USPc came to mind in either 9mm or .45. Probalem is, I already have a Glock 19 and a couple of 1911 pattern pistols (a full size and Commander size).

I guess I would just be spending the money "because I can" not because of a need. I'm kinda dubious that the 9mm version of the HK would be an improvement over my Glock in terms of accuracy/reliability/portability and the .45 flavour of the HK (even in compact mode) is still a BIG gun. Might as well go with a Glock 30 for half the price.

Am I missing something here?

How about the USP Compact in .40? Same size as the 9mm USPc, and different enough from the G19 to justify. How about getting a P7? Or wait for the new P30?

P2000

I am an HK fan and my next purchase will be the P2000. It is a bit more CCW friendly than the USPc, and the LEM trigger is just awesome. I was skeptical until I tried it, but the LEM is smooth like the proverbial buttah.

I was gonna suggest a USPc in either a .40 or .45. You already have a G19 and a couple of .45s so a high-end polymer .40 couldn't hurt. Then again the USPc in .45 is a pretty sweet deal.

I'd actually suggest a Sig, but HK is definitely great too.

Well, since you are already familiar with 1911 C&L carry and Glocks; if you prefer full size type pistols you might consider a Browning Hi Power....or, if you think something smaller would come in handy (and it does) then either a Glock 26 or a S&W J frame .38 snub. The G26 is a truly amazing little pistol and a good 'ol S&W .38 snub with Barami Hipgrips on it offers a lot of convenience and options for carry....and a hammerless lightweight snub even more so - for dropping in a large front pants pocket or jacket pocket without causing it to sag...

Happy hunting !

It depends on what caliber you want. Do you want to stay with what you have or do you want to start buying another caliber of ammo along with the 9mm.

I personally would suggest the P2000 over the USPc - either .40 or 9mm. I went with 9mm. Hold both of them and see what fits you the best.

Actually I am doing the reverse of what you are doing. I bought the P2000 in 9mm first, and now I am buying the G19.

Both are excellent handguns.

I've shot the Hk USPc in 40 caliber. Very accurate and facinated with the decocker/safety button...but the slide's sight radius bothered me.

Nice pistol. I'd say a tie, excluding the price factor.

I am selling a USP 45 compact right now, and it is certainly NOT because I dislike the gun (I love it, I just need more money for a car). The USP 45 has a MUCH better grip and any Glock 45. Narrower and easier to hold on to. For me, that is worth the extra money, as I have smallish hands. Not to mention I like the mag release, DA/SA trigger and grip angle of HKs better than Glocks.

Just my opinion though, anyone saying that one is inherently superior is full of it.

If you like the feel of a Glock, there is certainly nothing wrong with saving some money and getting a Glock. There are generally more holster and accessory options for Glocks as well. They are great guns for those whose hands they fit, but to me they are so uncomfortable that it is a deal breaker.

I prefer the .40 cal over the 9mm for carry so my opinion is either the G27 or the P2000SK (Both of which I own :D). I just bought the P2000SK used like-new from someone here on the forums and it is an excellent gun, V2 LEM with Meprolight night sights. The grip feels better to me than the P2000. It also conceals better. I would also HIGHLY recommend the G27, which I just purchased two days ago -- I installed Tru-glo night sights, which are also excellent. The G27 fits in my front pocket like a S&W 642 does so you can't go wrong with it. I also carry it in a Milt Sparks VMII. I've owned a G19, a G23, a G27, and a P2000SK and my favorites are the G27 and P2000SK though the G23 comes VERY close to them. The G27 is just better to conceal for me. Best of luck,

Kevin

I had a P2000sk with LEM and the more I shot it, the less I liked the LEM trigger. I ended up trading it. I actually prefer the USP series to the P2000.

I'd say wait until the P30 in 9mm or the HK45 (not the USP) comes out if you're thinking of going HK. I just got the S&W M&P 9 and love it. The price was exceptional for the quality - $530 with tax. In fact, if you were thinking the HK45, the S&W M&P .45 appears to be very comparable, except for the price. Or, alternatively, go with something competely different and new to you. Try different caliburs and styles. Maybe a revolver? Or, there are different collector variations to the multitude of 1911's out there. Or, just take one of the guns you've got and get accessories - like lasers, tac lights, night sights, photon torpedos, etc. I know, it's not the same as buying the gun. ;) Or, go crazy and get a bolt action 30-06, look for Ruger, for example. Yep, I've decided, that's what I'm going to do...thanks for the help. I'll get one! :p LOL

HK USPc for me

I found myself caught up in the whole Glock marketing scheme. Made my mind up that nothing would do except a Glock. Now don't get me wrong they are great handguns but every time I picked one up something just didn't feel right. No Glocks are the best its got to be a Glock. But then I had the opportunity to hold and purchase an HK USPc .9mm:cool::D. They say when it sings to you, buy it! The HK fits me like a glove.

The only draw back now is that I want another one and another one and.....:banghead:

Tim, who has champagne taste and beer income:cuss:.

I bought this HK 40C used about six years ago and had the slide hardchromed. It had a set of Meprolight nightsights on it and they are still super bright. It has been shot, shot & shot some more and its 100% reliable. One big thing to not overlook is the ammo you are going to carry with a particular pistol. Some ammo that works great in a 5'' barrel won't perform the same coming out of a 3" ultra compact. In my HK 40C I use the Double Tap 165 gr. Gold Dot HP and man it was made for this pistol. Life is good...

I've got a G19 and IMO, it's the nicest pistol in the Glock line-up -- but HK makes my favorite guns PERIOD ;)
I'm w/ brother gudel...."Get both!" :D

I love my HK USPc - an awesome - versitile - accurate weapon.
I like variant 1 because I can go locked & cocked like a 1911, decocked with safety, or just decocked....
It is slim as well, so IWB CCW is better than the thick Glocks. The P2000 is another good option.

I also like .40 over 9mm for protection against a large attacking Pit-bull or animal of the like, but for BGs I have changed my opinion for now and have a little more confidense in 9mm.
