I would suggest you try to find someone who has one of the HK A3 stocks and you shoot it before you put up the money. They arent very pleasant to shoot with and many dont like them.
I have shot with them before, and they don't bother me. Then again, I can accommodate most anything. The way I see it, it's just another tool for me to learn to use.
The design of the AR with the recoil spring protruding rearward mandates that the collapsible stock afford a minimal amount of compression. But why would you choose such a system over the type that allows full movement? How much travel does the M4 type stock allow? I would think having one that fully compresses, thus making the rifle truly compact for packing or storage, would be preferable. Or am I missing something?
They both have their place, I just prefer the M4 stock. At full collapse it is shorter than the standard stock that I have, but still allows shouldering of the weapon and a cheekweld. The A3 does not do those things for me.
