Hodgdon Titegroup

I use a lot of Titegroup for 9mm (115-147g plated), 38 special (147g plated) and 45ACP (200-230g plated).

I really like the stuff for light target loads. In the last two years I have gone through 12 pounds and have at this time 24 pounds in the bunker. I try to experiment but when it comes down to it, TG is what I grab off the shelf.

There are some who make a convincing argument for another powder, against Titegroup, But titegroup does what I want it to do, is economical and most important, even in the dark days of 2014 when there was no powder, there was titegroup.

4.2 tite group or W231 behind 200 gr lswc at 1.235 oal make great target plinking rounds for my 3 45s. 2 1911 and one Block 21. I visually check powder in case while loading with a LED light shining directly in case.

I bought some a couple of years ago when others became scarce.

Now,

4.0 Titegroug/124 gr. plated in my 9mm's found it works very well.

I've been using it for years. 8lbs at a crack. Mainly for .44spl and .45 Colt. However, out of necessity I have loaded it down to .38 S&W. Double loads, and burning hot, are a non issues.

TiteGroup was the very first powder I learned to load with; 7.2 grains under a 125 JHP .357 Magnum worked very well for me. I use other powders now but I still have four pounds in stock just in case.

Another member of the "not a fan" group. Plenty of other powders that I prefer

Burns Hot, not a great choice for lead bullets IMO.

It worked for me in 9mm and .45 ACP.
Better in .45 than 9mm IMO.

Would I use it again if I couldn't find anything else, yes.
Would it be my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th ... choice, no.

Probably the best characterization. It's decent. It's even good in just the right application. But I can think of a better choice in nearly every instance.

Let it be written in the "Book of Reloading" that I concur with Rule3 on this. I have used titegroup with 9mm with good results but felt as nervous as a teacup poodle on a pitbull ranch. I weighed every charge. With as small of a range between "ok" and "***" as there is with that powder, it's not worth it to me. This was quite a while ago when, like an idiot, I didn't reorder power pistol soon enough.

Titegroup is a great powder, I use it for 9 & 38spl. Need to be more careful with 38, as mentioned due to the case capacity.
I have not found TG to be too hot for lead, as it's a fraction of a second the bullet is exposed to heat. I load TG with a Lee auto disk powder measure on my progressive press, it measures very well and it works so I haven't switched yet.
