HoloSight vs. Gen II Holosight vs. EOTech

I want a holographic sight for my RRA AR-15 flat-top.

I know that the Bushnells are a version of the EOTech with no metal hood and less water resistance and no NVG capability, fine with me, BUIS will ride behind it.

I also now see that there is a "Gereration II" Bushnell (510023) for about $40 less than the "normal" Bushnell (510021). So what is the difference? The specs seem the same to me, same battery, reticle and such. Bushnel only lists 510023 on thier site.

I can get an EOTech for $320 but it would be hard to pass up a Bushnell for $225 and free shipping!

Any input or advice? Thanks!

cheapest place i am aware of is Ranger Joes $399 for a 512. thats a pretty standard price about anywhere you go.
Ive got the bushnell holosight on my M4 and it works just as good as an EOTech. main big difference is it doesnt have the hard outer shell the EOTech does, and not night-vision friendly. that and it only cost me $250 at MC Sports

Bushnell 's new Red Dot Sights feature a dedicated on/off button and a intensity memory. The intensity memory allows the Bushnell Holosight 510023 reticle to turn on at its last setting, saving you battery life

I know my 2 year old Holosights don't have those features. That second one sounds nice.

Sounds like the $225 Bushnell will do it for me though.

Holosight

I have a couple Bushnell Holosights and a few EoTechs. My carbines don't get thrown around, so I don't really see any differences. If I put them through the mill, I would prefer the EoTech because of the aluminum guard...

I'm thinking about getting a Millett 1-4x24 DMS Tactical 30mm Riflescope.
Just a thought...

I have an Bushnell Holosight XLP... it's ok... I'll be selling it to finance the purchase of glass for my Bushy, though.

I think it's better not to have a dedicated off button, since it would be easier to bump it off during use. Also, I don't mind it coming on at full strength everytime... what if you're shooting at the range at dusk, and turn it down, and then the next day turn it on because you NEED it right away, and it's still set low, even though now it's sunny?

+1 on the DMS-1 1-4X scope... I want to get one for another one of my AR's.

SWFA's "Sample List" (http://www.samplelist.com/) has a 550 for $329. Botach Tactical is selling the 512 for $399, including a free streamlight TLR-1 light.

New for $320? That'd be a steal.

Actually I think the Botach deal is better considering TLR-1s are around $100 themselves but it's a mute point as I bought the Bushnell.
