My daughter will be getting married in just under a month and her fiance and I were shooting with her in the range going through some different revolvers. She has always liked shooting the 4"686 and my 2.75" 66. Both of those she admits she wouldn't carry on her. That left us with her shooting my 642 while she didn't like it as well she agreed that it was the right size and weight. Blake and I searched gunbroker and found a 637 performance center and it should be here in a few days. She likes to be able to go single action if the shot requires more precision so the 637 won out over the snag free 642. As a result I am looking for a quality leather OWB holster for her any suggestions?

I have a Bianchi Shadow holster for my 3” J frames that I like very much. They do make a model for the 1 7/8” 637PC. I plan to also get one of these for my 442 as my current OWB holster isn’t as flat when worn.

The thing I like about the Bianchi Shadow is it is really east to carry. It rides well and it’s comfortable.

Taking a woman’s shape into consideration of you are going for outside the waistband look for a holster that the cylinder rises above the belt line. If you put the thickest part of the revolver on the widest part of the body it will print severely. Although there are many good holsters made of out there the designs are not all the best for a woman. I will try to find a pic of what I am talking about. A high rise pancake will place the revolver above the hip and it will tuck away beautifully.

This is an example of what I am talking about. If you look at the lower slots it is clear how the belt rises below the cylinder. This holster will tuck away very nicely.

I’m married 52 years. While still not an expert on female psychology, I expect any holster you buy for her is going to stay in the drawer. We men look at function, women look at style and function. Tell her you will pay for the holster of her choice, whether off the shelf or custom made. Wearing a holster that was custom made for her improves the likelihood that she will use it.

I've been married to the same gun loving and gun carrying woman for 51 years, and I'd no more try to pick out a holster for her than I'd try to pick out a pair of shoes for her. Take your daughter holster shopping. Let her choose - just like you would choose if you were buying a holster (or a pair of shoes) for yourself.

I've been very happy with DeSantis and 1791 leather owb for my Shield Plus PC 9 and Springfield 4" XDs 9mm.

One day when leaving the range a buddy of mine said he had something for me. He handed me a box with over a dozen holsters in it and said “none of these worked out for me, see if you have better luck”. I wound up keeping one, adding a few more and passed them on. I second the recommendation of letting her pick her own as your gift.

I fully believe in letting the user buy what they like, not what you like. When her new gun arrives take her to a gunshop with a good selection of holsters and let her look. If she finds what she wants, pay for it. If not, go to another shop and continue doing so until SHE makes her selection. If she is anything like the women I know you might spend a lot of time shopping. Men know what they want, go buy it, and are done. Women, not so much.

Edited to add a personal experience: Back in the early '70's I bought my wife a S&W Model 60 to carry with her when she was traveling without me and also a nice holster. She loved the gun. The holster remains unused to this day.

I would strongly suggest having her pick one that is comfortable for her, if the intension is for her to use it.

For the same reasons I wouldn’t suggest you pick out the shoes she wears. You don’t know what you don’t know. The reason there are so many choices is because people are different and have different preferences.
