Home defense options

One of two pistols, by my bedside, if someone does get into the bedroom, "my dog sleeps like a rock". I assume they already know that if you have a pistol or rifle, it will be near you. Having a second one placed where it would be hidden, but accesable, to only you is a good idea, "i think". I have a "pillow pal" for 30 yrs now, that allows a gun to be flat up against the side of the mattress. or you can even cover it with a sheet. Unless someone knew it was there, it would allow me the option of at least a chance of getting to it even with an armed person in the room. placed where your arm naturally hangs off the mattress, it is just a second line of defense.

I suspect that I have enough lines of defense to protect myself from the typical criminal interest in myself or my property. Unfortunately, it's difficult to have enough firepower to protect yourself from any government interest in yourself or your property. Just look at what happened at Waco... They had a significant stash of ammo and arms, but in the end, when the government decides to exterminate you (for your beliefs or whatever), you will be exterminated.

Time for plan "B"

Excellent point. If government decides to eliminate you and you take a stand, the only outcome will be a headline that you will not be able to read - ever.

Fighting government is not a viable option - bugging out or secreting yourself becomes plan "B".

Luckily, the Founding Fathers did not know about that particular tactic... ;)

I get the impression that you haven't been following the news in the middle-east lately.

Of course if you mean just one person vs the government I suppose that's a different story.

Au contraire mon ami. Hundreds dead in the streets in Cairo, over a thousand, so far, in Tripoli - yes, I have been following the news.

That's EXACTLY what I mean because I also followed the news about Waco and Ruby Ridge. To put a cherry on top of this sundae, I also was in law enforcement as a younger man and operated in a heavy-handed manner that I don't approve of today. Just because the law says that you can doesn't mean that you should.....Doc

This plus 4 50-round mags?

One could make an argument that anything the government tried to ban by name must be something that you should own...
