I just can't bring myself to install one of those side saddles on the receiver.

I like to keep it simple. I remove the plug, install the riot barrel, slip on the butt cuff, and its essentialy the same gun I've hunted with and fired thousands of times.

Nice assortment of 870's there,mclark202. Your Magnum looks a lot like my Wingmaster chambered for 2 3/4. I've been looking at the front sling mount like yours that installs between the mag tube and the extension. What do you think of yours? I think I saw them at Wilson combat. I dont normally keep a sling on but there are times when I would like to.

Choate makes a nice all steel magazine extension clamp sling swivel and ATI makes a polymer one if you have a plastic theme going on.

The only time that I defended anyone with a shotgun, all I had was a slightly sawed-off Topper. The opponent had a scoped deer rifle. Luckily, he was a 14-year-old meth-head that was too focused on shooting up my grandmother's house to notice me.

Still, it was a very nerve-wracking stalk. And I didn't have to pull the trigger.

I prefer not to have to do anything like that ever again.

Speaking of the infamous "pistol grip" (by which I mean the ones lacking a buttstock, not ones that give your shotgun an AR-15 profile, or even a Ruger Red Label profile) ...
has anyone ever combined one with a nice gas-operated 20-gauge? It seems like that would moderate the recoil. You wouldn't have a "combat longarm" any more, you'd have something more like a big ol' pistol. Nothing wrong with that, but I've never heard of anyone doing it.

Maybe because the most popular gas-operated shotgun in the Remington 1100, which has a very important part (a spring? I think) in the buttstock. Would a Browning Gold or one of the Beretta actions be suitable for a stockless design?

Manually-operated 12-gauge seems like a strange action to combined with a stockless rig, although there are those recoil-reduced 12-gauge shells that I've never tried.

Ok, il be posting thse in all three shotgun pictures threads. Its, a pump action, (slightly) "tactical" home defense shotgun.

H&R Pardner Pump. 12 gauge, 3" chamber, 5 shot tube.





Added an ATI heat shield (because I have burned myself on the barrel before, but not after getting the heat shield), 5 round butt cuff, and painted the whole gun in 500 degree engine enamel for rust proofing.

It patterns buckshot nicely, given the cylinder bore, and shoots winchester foster slugs POA at 25 yards (the longest range ive shot them at so far), and most importantly, its action is slick and feeds anything you put in it (it feeds the brass rears cutt off the rest of the hull of the shell, no lie).

These are the only two shotguns I own that would be suitable to defend my home. I've been contemplating using the bottom shotgun and some less than lethals to strongly discourage a black bear from continuing its practice of eating my parents' garbage, bird seed and horse feed.
