Well, my gf doesn't mind shooting; and I shoot at boxes etc with my bb gun at home... Well, I setup tonight, those big paper clippy things that have the two tails that flip down; I put quarters in each, and had them standing, so when you hit one, they'd fall.

I had by gf shoot them, and she really loved it! She's like, WOW!! Shooting is so much fun! There are reasons why this is so;

#1) Audible response, you hear the coin plink, and that lets you know you've hit it.

#2) The target falls! Visual as well as audible confirmation that the target went down.

#3) If you hit the coin square, it flies off the little holder! So you know if you've hit the holder, or the coin.

I couldn't get her to fall in love with shooting at paper, but she does love the little targets I setup... I'm going to look for little orange stickers tomorrow, so it's easier to sight in and shoot..

I used to shoot a BB gun at those "Necco" brand candy wafers. Easy to tell when you hit, and bio-degradeable, too.
I had a piece of 2x4 that a buddy had 'routered' a little grove in it, so that the Necco's stood up straight.

P.S. Only used this outdoors...Mom got real mad about the Necco chunks in the carpet..................

A really good sometimes free source of those red dots are the blaze orange price stickers at grocery stores. The small ones are really challenging.
So what if they say 99 cents in black numbers?

That sounds like fun! I may just have to get a BB gun now...

However, I have one concern: ricochets. If you're shooting at metal coins with metal BBs, you may just find yourself with a BB imbedded inside of you or the wall. You may want to try pellets or a softer target. Or, of course, you can shoot at an angle so they can deflect away from you.

Actually, the stand falls, and so the falling of the stand absorbs about 80% of the ricochets..

I put a shoebox with an old rag behind it as a quiet backstop..

Very fun! Highly recommended!

I was shooting at a carnival last week, the guns were off a bit; and so I missed my first shot, but scored 29 out of 30. Everybody else on the line stopped to watch me shoot. I had my two cousins there and was teaching them how to shoot... How to hold a gun etc... well, my cousins (2 females!!) are addicted to shooting now.. Also, it was fun to watch as the other 18 people who were shooting, stopped to listen as I gave instructions on grip, aim, safety etc...

definately use pellets, not BB's! BB's bounce around a lot!

A quick 'n easy & safe (paramount) BB gun shooter's gallery can be made out of a shoebox.

Cut a V on either side, towards the back, hang a (anything dowel-like) & drape a hand towel over the "dowel" to catch the BBs. BBs hit it & just drop with no bouncing about - a good thing all told.

Stage anything reactive targets up front to be caught by the hanging rag.

Too many variations to list ......

A BB bouncing back (they can! believe me) & smacking a new shooter in the forehead with a rebound is not conducive towards more fun shooting.

Thinking that runs akin to that "backstop & what's behind it" thing ....
