Home robbery

1.) Better door locks.
2.) Better lighting, try the CFL flood bulbs on all dark times instead of motion detecting, they run cheap.
3.) Cameras, either video saved to a computer or ones like the ScoutGuard that save to a SD card.

I agree that it's probably a neighbor or neighbor's friend or both that know nobody is home. I have a farm in the boonies with 150 acres and a home that is 400 miles away. After a burglary I replaced locks and doors, upgraded floodlighting, hid a Scoutguard camera outside and installed a X-10 security system that dials my home phone and cell, and a TRUSTED neighbor. I check the memory card in the Scoutguard when I am there once a month or so.

Other than 4 false alarms from the X-10 system (and yes, that is indeed a hassle, but I have an exceptional neighbor) I have not since had a picture of somebody up to no good in over two years.

Lastly, I used to string a wire cable across the driveway when leaving the farm, but decided nothing advertises nobody's home like that and don't do it now.
