Any updates? Were the poor defensless little doggies injured? I bet the PETA terrorists will have a thing or two to protest at the next annual Ninja convention!!:neener:

Old Ninja teacher: "Ah, Grasshopper, just as the snowflake blends into the surrounding snow , it appears invisible, yet is still there within the snow as itself. It blends into it's surroundings, but remains separate. Do you understand, Grasshopper?"
Grasshopper: "Yes, Master. I understand."
Old Ninja teacher: "Good, now go make like a Rubbermaid.":
:D  :neener:

I like the cop's casual description of the gun as "probably a .357 ..."

It seems like he sees nothing wrong with self defense.

has every one forgotten about "Remo Williams"??? Remember when he is shooting at the old guy and he is leaning from side to side out of the way of oncoming fire?? Now that is a true master!! How many people have to get hurt/die to be able to carry a CCW in CA?

Probably a couple thousand...

But that would probably backfire actually. San Francisco had a sharp spike in murder and crime. Instead of making it easier for people to defend themselves, they decided to ban handguns and confiscate them from everyone.

This state is complete bass ackwards on many things.

You set traps, you spray but still there they are leaping out at you from the shrubbery and cartwheeling across your lawn.

I just hope that no one catches ninja flu from this.

Doesn't the husband know that in (the people's republic of) California you are pupose to call the police and wait for them to come and protect you? Husbands that go around killing attacker at will are the reason that California need to outlaw guns. For God's sake how many depraved criminals have to die before we get all those gun off the streets? :banghead:

where is Skunkabilly?

A real ninja thread and no comment from skunk, this is disheartening...is he ok?

Yep; "completely out of the blue". That's how a great many attacks seem to occur to a great many people.

Although it might be considered somewhat "early on" in the game there is a conspicuous lack of expressed (or published) interest in the dead man. Like who exactly was he, who and where are family, friends and asociates etc and what inspired his attack - particularly in the geographical location described.

ID AND AUTOPSY RESULTS OF INTRUDER STILL UNKNOWN
02/28/06 3:05 PST

SANTA ROSA (BCN)

An autopsy was conducted today on a man who attacked a Healdsburg woman Monday and was then fatally shot by her husband in the couple's home.

The man's identity is still unknown, the Sonoma County Coroner's Office said today. Healdsburg Police Chief Susan Jones said police still don't know a motive for the victim's bizarre behavior.

The man was dressed in black, including gloves, and was wearing a Ninja-type mask when he assaulted 64-year-old Sandra Phillips while she was walking her dogs outside her Sunset Drive home around 7:25 a.m. Monday.

Phillips ran inside her house and her screams awoke her husband, 68-year-old Lou Phillips who shot the intruder with a .357-caliber handgun. The intruder died at the scene.

Phillips was questioned and released and his wife was treated for a head laceration at Healdsburg District Hospital.

Jones said the white, 35- to 40-year-old intruder was holding Sandra Phillips with one hand and was holding what appeared to be a firearm in the other hand when Lou Phillips fired three shots.

The results of the autopsy, including the number of shots that struck the intruder, have not yet been released.

Jones said she is still waiting to hear from Healdsburg police officers who were at the autopsy.

The man had no identification and no vehicles were found in the Sunset Drive area in rural east Healdsburg, police said.

Of course there were no vehicles. He probably floated from rooftop to rooftop to get there - a little wire fu action.

(03-01) 17:10 PST HEALDSBURG -- Police investigators looking into the shooting death of a ninja-style assailant at a semirural home in Healdsburg say they have not yet been able to identify the masked intruder or to establish a motive for his actions.

The intruder was shot dead Monday morning by former tribal and Nevada gaming executive Louis J. Phillips, shortly after the man attacked Phillipps' wife, Sandra, outside their home on Sunset Drive, police said. The man struggled with her and chased her inside, where Louis Phillips opened fire with his .357-caliber Magnum handgun.

"We don't have a motive for the attack," Police Chief Susan Jones said. "And we'd feel a whole lot better if we could identify the intruder."

Jones described the dead assailant as a white man, about 35 to 40 years old. He was armed with a revolver and carried no identification. The man was dressed from head to toe in black, including a black mask and black leather gloves, Jones said.

The chief said police had submitted the dead man's fingerprints to the criminal databases of various law enforcement agencies, but so far there has been no match. Authorities are also trying to trace the serial number of the intruder's gun. If needed, investigators plan to submit dental records and DNA evidence for analysis.

"We have some leads," said Jones, who has six officers working on the case along with investigators from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department and district attorney's office. "We're holding out hope that if this guy had family, maybe they'll call in a missing person (report), and if he had nobody, maybe his mail will start piling up and someone will call in."

Louis Phillips, 68, has been involved in the Nevada, California and Colorado gaming industries for decades. He could not be reached for comment.

In January 2000, Phillips became chief executive officer of Viejas Enterprises, which is owned by the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians. The tribe runs one of California's largest and most successful Indian gaming operations.

Viejas Enterprises operates the Viejas Casino, a 300,000-square-foot gaming colossus in the Alpine area of San Diego County, as well as a factory outlet center with dozens of name-brand retail stores and restaurants. Viejas Enterprises also owns Borrego Springs Bank, a recreational vehicle park and a small television station.

Phillips' major contribution was the development in 2000 of a Vegas-style gambling ship that ran excursions from San Diego to Mexico. It was the first such deal between a Native American tribe and a cruise line, but the venture quickly went belly up.

Viejas tribal spokeswoman Jenny Rohrauff said that Phillips, who served as a tribal consultant before he was named chief executive officer of Viejas Enterprises, is no longer affiliated with the tribe.

"He wasn't here very long," Rohrauff said. "As I recall, it wasn't even a year."

Phillips is also a former president and chief operating officer of Harrah's northern Nevada hotel and casino operations as well as ex-general manager of the firm's Reno and Lake Tahoe casinos. He also worked on a development for the company in Colorado, a gaming project in Auckland, New Zealand, and other projects overseas.

Phillips left Harrah's in June 1995 to teach gaming management for five years at the University of Nevada in Reno. At the time, Harrah's pledged $250,000 over five years to underwrite his professorship.

Property records indicate that the Phillipses paid $1.36 million for their home in Healdsburg in September 2003.

"I believe they paid cash, or took out a very small loan," said Deke Dekay, a Healdsburg real estate agent who used to live in the home and sold it to the Phillipses.

Chronicle researcher Johnny Miller contributed to this report.

So evidently the guy's fingerprints are not on record anywhere whatsoever. Reading the other postings above - it sounds as if should "no one report him missing or his mail doesn't pile up" they are going to sit on it indefinately, when a mug shot - even with his eyes closed - might bring at least someone who has seen him recently or knows him.

Probably much more to this guy than some "lone nut".

Depending on Mr Phillips' shot placement, the "mug shot" might not be very helpful indentifying the perp.

Has anyone heard from Skunkabilly lately ????

When I first saw this thread I expected to read a punchline inside. That second report makes my spidey sense tingle. Either severe mental illness is involved or something more sinister. I wonder if the unidentifiable revolver on the perp might be a throw down of the ex-tribal leader.

Thank you Sammual Colt

for making a 60+ year old, half asleep man just as tall as a dirt bag predator who prays on little old ladies (not even close to a ninja).

Good ridens!

Hell has a new resident.

First off, Wheaton terriers are good dogs. They are about 40 pounds (give or take 10) and are alert watchdogs. I have no doubt that when he attacked the lady one or both of those dogs went nuts and may have bitten him. Think about the time line, lady gets attacked, hubby shoots attacker after waking up... Something was slowing that guy down...

ATTACK DOGS are specialy trained and specially selected. Not all dogs from one breed will attack. I think, however if the owner is endagered or attacked by a stranger that most dogs can be expected to do something.

The chief said the incident "is completely out of the blue" for the town.

That's why I carry 24/7 and go to yellow when I leave the house. Because incidents like this come out of the blue.

The thing I haven't been able to figure out is why this guy wasn't wearing those claws on his hands and feet so he could climb the wall of the house and pounce on her instead of hiding behind the garbage cans.
