In a part of Utah that resembles Tattooine.
I have had a Ciener .22 conversion for a long time, I run it on my Kimber frame. Recently a lightbulb went off in my head, and I decided that being a full adult of reasonable means, I am in a position where I don't have to switch the slides back and forth. (And one day inevitably lose the slide stop in the crack of my tailgate.) I can get another 1911 frame and just.....leave it on there.

So I start sniffing at Fusion and Caspian frames, thinking building one out might be a fun exercise. (I have detail-stripped a 1911, I've really never done any fitting.) I guess what I am mostly wondering, is, how 'drop-in' is that Ciener kit? Is there a lot of variance in how tightly it would fit? Could I say, just buy one of the finished frames from Brownell's and pop it on there and it would be fine? If I 'broke it in' on one frame, will it run on another?

I suppose my next dilemma is having the barrel modified with a threaded extension welded.

Can’t say about a Ceiner but I have built two frames to host Nelson conversions using Caspian/Foster frames. The Nelson uppers fit perfectly, no rail work needed at all.

Download the blueprints and check dimensions against what you have in hand. If you cannot locate them online send a PM and I can email them to you.

Fun suggestion: try and find an aluminum full size colt frame. I put my ceiner conversion on an A&R sales lightweight (aluminum) frame and the whole thing with magazine weighs 1 pound 11 ounces. Really nice to shoot.
