Just came back from the gun range with my father and pulled into the hotel to find a whole slew of people, men, standing around in the parking lot. We've been here for two, three weeks and maybe one week more (God willing, we might move into the condo after Wednesday if all is ready). Anyway, we couldn't figure if it was a prayer session or what as I couldn't hear what they were saying. They were gathered in a circle and their cars/vans were blocking the enterance. We got out and went to our room and later my father went to update our key so it'd work (we just noticed it). The girl at the desk was all nervous. They weren't customers - just eating the candy at the front desk and letting the kids play with the hotel carriers outdoors. They were loud and swearing and she was obviously concerned for her safety and called the hotel manager. My father advised her to call the police if they didn't leave.
It gave me a good feeling that I didn't send all my guns up to my brother's and kept my Berettas, the Single Six, and the model 60 with me while staying at the hotel. I wanted something for the range trips as I knew I'd go stir crazy but I also wanted to keep something handy for times like this - which I didn't think would really happen. Thank God I got personal protection ammo for the Berettas and the model 60 before we checked in. To me, this all illustrates that bad things can happen quick and why it's always best to be armed for those unexpected visitors. I'll sleep well tonight knowing my guns are close.
