Looking for info from anyone living North of Houston (Northern Harris Country...Spring, Woodlands, Etc) and the Conroe area. Thinking of possibly relocating there from Utah for a number of reasons. To keep it gun related, any recommendations on gun shops and ranges in that area?

I go to school in Huntsville and my dad lives in Spring... I am actually looking for a new range right now, there used to be a public one in the Ntnl forest that was close to me but it got shut down. I am hoping to find a private club in the conroe/N. houston area. I've lived in or around Houston for the past 8 or 9 years, so if you have any questions post 'em, or you can email me too if need be. Oh, as far as public ranges go, the Carter's Country in Spring is supposed to have a pretty good range, and Gun Emporium in conroe has been recommended by a member or two as well. I haven't been to either, no one I know ever wants to go with me :(

Calling al Houston-area shooters...

I am organizing a get-together of shooters. Mark your calender for Saturday, April 19.

We will meet at 12 noon for lunch at the famous Wunsche Bros. Cafe, Spring's famous historic landmark known for down home Texas food, especially its outstanding hamburgers. In fact, the joint was built in 1902 as a saloon/restaurant/boarding house. Legend has it that the ghost of Charlie Wunsche still haunts this cafe, sometimes playing his violin. Wunsche Cafe website.

Address: 103 Midway, Spring, Texas, 77373
Phone: 281-350-CAFE

Wunche Brothers Cafe is about one mile east of I-45, right on the railroad tracks. When you get there, you will be able to spot me right off as I will probably have on a T-shirt that says "peace through superior firepower." If not, I will have one set of ear protection on the table in front of me.

At 12:45 pm, we will proceed to Carter's Country just around the corner. Carter's Country, 6231 Treaschwig Rd., Spring, TX 77373.
281/821-0070. It's half a mile east of the intersection of Treaschwig and Cypresswood. If your schedule doesn't allow for lunch, you can join us for shooting. It's an outdoor range for both pistols and rifles. They also have a skeet-range.

Bring your favorite weapons!

Regards,

Bill

sounds like fun, my dad will be getting married the night before, so I'll be in the area already...Won't have my pistols yet, but I'll bring my .22 and 30-30 Remember, the range fee is $6 per gun or shooter, whichever is more.

Bill, keep me posted. I live down in S-Land, so Carters is a bit of a hike for me, but I would do my best.

Atc1man, as I said, I am on the other end of town, but I did take my CHL class at Carters up north and found it to be a pretty decent outdoor range.
