Today I was out shooting my Taurus Mil-Pro, which has been a great pistol. I was shooting my 165 grain reloads which I have never had a problem with, having already fired 500 rounds of them without a hitch. Well today, after 2 magazines of rounds, the gun locks up, it will not go fully into battery!:( So I decide to come back to the house, grab a batch of my 180 grain FMJ's and try those, same thing! For the record, I tested both of these rounds in my XD and they chambered just fine. I'm very disappointed, I really liked this pistol, but after this failure today, I cannot trust it. I've decided to trade it on a Springfield XD subcompact in 40 S&W. Taurus may still have some work to do when it concerns long term durability, I've had this gun for 1-1/2 years now, fired 1500 rounds out of it.

IIRC Taurus has a lifetime warranty for whoever owns the gun.

Wouldn't it be worth a shot to send it to Taurus before you sell it?

Let them fix it. It might come back better than before.

Same thing happened with my Glock 26. Wouldn't go fully into battery, wouldn't eject the round except after much strong-arming and cursing. I figured maybe it was dirty and the rounds were sticking (not usually a problem for glocks) so I cleaned it. Fired about a mag worth and it started doing it again. Got out the caliper and examined my reloads. The brass was a little oversized. Must have forgotten to size them correctly before reloading. After resizing they have been fine. You might want to check that.

Update on this situation....looks like I might have overreacted. I decided to field strip the gun and give it a good cleaning, its been about 350 rounds since I last field stripped it. To my surprise, it was filthy! I gave the slide a good dose of action blaster, then everything got a light coat of CLP, its very clean now.:D Its chambering rounds just fine now, which is a relief. I'm thinking the gun was dirty enough to actually cause a problem, and it did. This should take care of my problem. I'm not ready to totally give up on it, after all its fired 1500 rounds without a hitch.
