How fully do you utilize your Concealed Weapons Carry Permit? Allow me to refer to it here by the initials CWP as I have seen many variations at THR.

By this I mean, how often do you actually carry your pistol/revolver when your permit allows you that privlege?

I have never carried in church, at a grocery store, mall, etc. I do wear my pistol when out hiking or traveling to what might be considered "dangerous" or extremely isolated areas, especially late at night.

The truth is, a use it less than 30% of the time that I could.

Every day. Carrying the gun is my default setting.

I don't look for reasons to carry. That would quickly lead to paranoia, I fear, since then I'd have to spend considerable emotional energy analyzing the relative danger of every place I ever went, and hoping I didn't guess wrong.

Instead of doing that, I simply look for reasons not to carry. So far, the only legitimate reasons I've ever found not to carry are 1) if it is actually illegal to carry a gun, or 2) it would be physically impossible to conceal the gun under the circumstances. When those conditions are both absent, I carry.

Everywhere.

Except in the house and going to work. Grrr on the latter.

And snarl.

basically most of the time..if it's illegal I won't do it....otherwise I have a gun on me

I rarely do - because I spend a lot of time on gov't property where it is illegal.

Also, my main motivation to get my permit was to show support for concealed carry legislation - not because I felt I personally needed to carry a pistol regularly.

I always carry where legal

Some do it for protection, some for duty, I do it for my unconditional love of my guns and freedom. I feel naked without my guns against my skin. Kinda like not having any under ware on. :what: LOL

I carry my firearm about 79 hours a week which means if I'm awake and not at work. Like Pax I also look for reasons not to carry, and generally find very few. My wife will be having a baby in the next few days, we've agreed I wont carry at delivery because concealment will be the last thing on our minds but she is very supportive of me carrying after.

I carry at home, the store, while mowing the lawn, painting, everywhere it is practical and legal, it is part of who I am. Every place has the potential to be a "dangerous place" very quickly, places are generally made dangerous by people not by their location.

I always carry when permitted by law.

That is to say, never. However, if I lived in a country that recognised natural law and the rights of the individual, I would carry whenever I was awake and not breaking the law by doing so.

Well put PAX. That sums up my feelings exactly, except I don't have too many "outfits" that I can't/couldn't conceal with, except maybe my speedo. ;)

I find carrying a gun to be somewhat cumbersome. But, like when I first started wearing a watch (which I do now constantly), I'm positively sure that I could get used to it. I just haven't taken the time to do so.

Another hangup for me... I haven't really found a rig I'm comfortable with. So far, my Kel-Tec PF9 in an Uncle Mike's #3 is the closest I can get to my desired comfort level. But still not good enough. I like the Kel-Tec, but need a IWB holster rather than the wallet holster. I think that'd push it over the fence. We'll see one of these days.

Putting on a pistol is simply part of putting on my pants anymore so anywhere you find me dressed you are likely to find me armed , and with a multi tool on my belt also the pistol to me is just another tool i pack day to day .

If I'm wearing pants, you have a 99.999% chance that I have a gun on. That drops a couple percentage points when I'm not wearing pants...

:D

I would say that I have a gun on me 70% of my non-sleeping life.

The only places I don't carry:

Schools
Bars
Post offices (hardly ever go there)
Sherrif's Office (been there once, before CWL)
Police stations (never even been inside one)
Courthouses
Polling places
Sterile areas of an airport (hardly ever go there)
Public sporting events (never go to one anyway)

Well, you get the picture.

My college is the only place that I go frequently where I don't carry. It's only two days a week, so no big deal I suppose. School is the ONLY place that I go with any regularity that I do not wear a gun.

I don't carry where I work as it is against policy and the law to carry at my workplace. I don't carry when I work out because it would look a bit weird having a holster threaded through my martial arts belt.:neener: I don't carry when I go out for dinner because it is normally in places that have a liquor license. Other than that I usually carry even when just working around my house or small acreage. I like guns and enjoy having one around. I have a modest collection and see no point in having tools that are never used.

I carry 99% of the time. I even carry in the house, unless I'm not dressed for the day yet.

The only times I don't are when I'm going somewhere I cannot legally CCW, or if I can't for practical reasons (swimming, etc).

I only carry in days that end in y. but seriously when not at work or in one of the locations off limits by law, I carry

I carry whenever I can, but that happens to not be all that often since I spend a large portion of my time at college and work both of which prohibit firearms even if you have a permit. when i'm at home i don't usually carry but i tend to have my pistol nearby.

I wish I could carry all the time, but I work for the Feds. Can't have a firearm on me or in my vehicle on their property. Not even a knife! Other than that - it's with me.
