Anyone counting any required training in the times?

My Virginia CCW took about 2 weeks. Required training was waived based on prior military experience. At least there were no questions concerning my "need" for one. That might have elicited a "grumpy old man" response.

I guess I shouldn't complain about the regulatory hassle with CCW's since a lot of states seem to be relaxing their stance on them. If I live long enough I might understand the political logic of controlling crimes committed by guns by making it difficult for folks who follow the legal steps in purchasing and making it even more difficult for those who want to carry them out of sight, or at all, and are willing to go through the legal steps to do so. I'm sure criminals and criminals in training pay strict attention to the gun control laws. Of course, that dead horse has been beaten so many times that horses ought to be on the endangered species list.
Depends on the county in VA. In Northern VA, like Arlington (Whats up with them? Ever heard of shall Issue???) it takes up to 5 months!!!! Seems to me the closer you get to DC, the time goes up proportionally. In DC and MD more like NEVER!

My FL one took about 30. but that was years ago and not people applying are getting their's back in as short as two weeks.

5 weeks for mine. Applied for it the first week of December last year, received it the 2nd week of January. I was warned ahead of time that it would take at least a month, and the volume is apparently still quite high in my area (Southern coastal Maine).

State law requires that a permit issued within 45 days. I think, IIRC, that mine came at Day 44. The issue wasn't waiting for the permit to arrive, however. The issue was getting an appointment at the local sheriff's department to go through the paperwork and fingerprint exercise. The wait was 10 weeks or so because of the backlog of people who wanted a permit.

Reporting in from CT. I just got mine last week and it took 4 and a half months.

Mine in TX was little over 90 days but I got a letter from Texas DPS telling me they were delayed due to tech problems with their computer system. That was the Fall before OB got elected.

We are a shall issue state. They say 6 weeks, but it is more like 3.
No notice of renewal so it is incumbent on you to get in early and renew

Well it's been 4 months now and I called Friday to find out they lost my application and my money, so now I have to go through it all over again. It was hand delivered to them too.

It took 90 days almost to the day for mine. My wife got hers in less than 60. The apps were sent in at the same time. Mine took longer because of some youthful drinking problems from 30 years ago. I had a couple of public intoxication arrests and a DUI arrest(but no conviction, great Lawyer).

CCW Permit

I live in Columbus County NC.
Its been well over 90 days now and I still cannot get an answer from the Sheriff
as to when they will issue the permit.
General Statute requires max of 90 days. They say, "we don't go by that" We'll call you when it's ready.

Good luck everyone.

I'm from Columbus (Franklin County), Ohio.

I took my class over the course of a weekend, the following week I was busy w/school and work, so I had to wait until Friday to turn in my paperwork.

I went in on a Friday afternoon with my $45, passport photo and certificate of completion (for the Ohio CHL class requirements)...

They called me the following Monday when they opened and told me to come pick up my license.

Total time between applying and recieving a license: about 42 hours.

Edited to add: It can take up to 45 days according to everything I've read. IIRC a friend of mine from the same class had to wait about 30 days for his, but I've never been arrested. He'd been arrested for a misdemeanor something-or-other, so there are pobably other factors that can delay getting your license.

Same here in Columbus Ohio. Class sunday, paperwork Monday, license Tuesday.

In Texas (2007) it took almost three months (submitted end of June, received CHL Sept 23)....when we moved to Pa we sent our applications via e-mail on a Tuesday (2010) and got a call from the Courthouse at noon on Thursday to come get our photos taken and we had our LTCF (License to Carry Firearms) by 2PM that day. The Sheriff also told us our Texas license was good in Pa for 30 days once we established a permanent residence. Pa rules!

Bout two and a half months for Montana. I open carried until then though.
