How many buy ammo for guns you don't own yet?

I got stuck with some .44 special ammo for my Marlin 1894 that just wouldn't feed reliably. Had to go get a Charter Bulldog to use it up. Funny thing, that "throwaway" revolver ended up being one of my favorite guns. And the .44 special being one of my favorite rounds.

Not sure this counts. I had a 40cal pistol I didn't like and sold it.

I like the caliber and have a couple of boxes of ammo for it which I haven't sold or given to anybody as I plan on getting a pistol to shoot it one of these days.

Not only have I bought ammo for guns that I don't own yet, I've bought accessories for guns that I don't have either. Before I even thought of getting an AR-15, I had already bought a bayonet with scabbard, and a cleaning kit for it. And this was quite a few years before I was even old enough to legally buy a rifle.

Nope, not often unless thinking I will someday have the firearm to go with it and the price is very good. Actually I can't even think of the last time I did that.

I bought a coupla hundred rounds of .22LR a few years back, when minding somebody else's place who left the revolver for me, but no ammo. I left him one box, kept the rest as possible trade goods in SHTF scenario. Lately, I've actually acquired a .22 rifle.

Once I bought a couple hundred rounds of Winclean in 40S&W because it was on sale, but it was actually the excuse to give my wife for buying another handgun, specifically a M&P in 40.

I don't think I can pull that same scam again though. Everyone else feel free to try it.

The only time I buy ammo for guns I don't own, is if it is bulk surplus military ammo sealed up somehow, like in a metal tin, or in a plastic/rubber battle pack. Since I already own the usual pistol calibers, that means I only get rifle ammo that I don't already own.

Twice in the past, however, I bought really nice pistol ammo that I didn't have anything to shoot it in that was pricey and not sealed up. But that was because I bought it for a gift for someone else.

When Midway had their "blemish" sale, I bought 500 bullets for the 6.8 SPC, and I don't have one, yet. :)

since i reload 32 acp/32 S&W/32 colt/32 H&R it was easy to get a nagant revolver. dies for it are Lee special 32-20 brass reformers or 32-20 and m-1 carbine combined. so now i need a 32-20 and a m-1. soon, or not so soon; but i think they will follow me home eventually.
