I know several people that travel a lot, so they chose to get CCL's from a few different states. I even know one guy that has four, because with reciprocity it covers almost every state in the country. I have been advised that it might be a good idea to at least get one for FL and MA (who doesn't reciprocate with anyone) to cover most of the places I frequent. How many do you have, to which states, and how many states are you able to carry in?

One resident license, one non-resident license, and one local jurisdiction which does not require permits (as well as another geographically distant jurisdiction, same). That does not mean, BTW, that the same guns may be carried concealed in each jurisdiction. In Maine, we get a "Permit to Carry Concealed Firearms" which permit, as I read it, and I read pretty well and am on a first-name basis with law enforcement, encompasses my AK-pattern rifle with side-folding stock, one-point sling and twenty-round magazine. This does NOT mean I may carry said gun, concealed, in NH or, necessarily, VT (though I suspect it does in VT, though it has not been, nor is it ever likely to be, an issue).

One. NC has reciprocity with all states I plan on visiting, exept DC but they dont let thier own citizens use a gun for self defense, so at least they dont descriminate against out of towners.

Only 1. It works for my state and all of the ones I tend to frequent/drive through.

If I was contemplating a trip to the fun restricted area in the NE of the US, or to the west, I might consider more......but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I'm used to living in a certain circumscribed tri-state area, surrounded by anti-gun zones. Do you guys really get to travel through adjoining jurisdictions, off-highway, using your single-state permit and no non-resident permit? Legally I follow these things, but I've never really dug into it. Does reciprocity mean your permit is followed in the other state? I assume you have to follow that state's concealed statute at least (mine is very lax, much more so than most). Even NH requires a non-resident permit, and they are hip to certain ME laxness, so their N/R permit is more restrictive.

One at the moment (like FiREhAwk, I live in NC, which covers most states I visit except MA). I do want to get a Massachusetts LTC.

Duke of Doubt, are you in Maine? My wife grew up in the Bangor area.

Yeah, I've been pretty open about that. Love it up here. God, the things I can do, legally.

CO and UT covers most states I travel to. Might try to get a CA while we still have a slight chance in getting one.

Two...and neither are from my own state (they won't issue to me for another year).

Two. A resident SC and a non resident NH. I use the NH to carry when visiting family back home in Ga. Crazy, huh? My native state won't issue non-resident and won't recognize my SC, but they *will* recognize one from NH, a state that I've never had the pleasure of even visiting.

One: NC

If I'm not mistaken, a NC permit enjoys reciprocity recognized in:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming...

So long as I observe the nuances of the carry concealed laws of those particular States.

Three. Washington, Oregon, and Utah. Gives me 30 state reciprocity.

My Utah permit is good in 38 states, last I checked.

Need to check again. NRA-ILA list shows only 32. As for me, my non-resident Utah permit isn't accepted in Colorado or a couple of the Eastern States.

NY, PA (non-resident) and Utah(non-resident) Covers most everywhere I may go. Mostly I have them as a CYA in case my badge and ID cause somebody confusion....hint, hint NJ Trooper that pulled me over and then OUT of my car. Hey shmuck boy....I know NJ laws too...ALL the rounds in my Glock were ball ammo. I knew better than to have JHP in NJ!! Ya didn't have to damn near dismantle my car!!! PUTZ!!! Especially since I was using your state to get back into mine. For the curious....the lamp on my rear plate was the reason for the traffic stop and the official (dept. letterhead) paperwork on the seat next to me was the grounds to ask if there were any firearms in the vehicle.:cuss:

i have one and only one and it is for georgia, it covers me where i live as well the places that i go the most if outside of georgia.
