I have this OCD thing where I hate having only one gun in any caliber. So I have at least two of every cartridge I own. Some I probably do have in excess like 22lr. But each one of those had its niche also.
Marlin 60 is for squirrels and rabbits. 10/22 wood carbine for small varmints and birds.
Synthetic carbine for ...well just because I wanted one and it will be my grand daughters one day.
Same with my hunting rifles and shotguns. Could I get by without a couple of them? Sure, but I prefer to have my 1100 for doves and rabbits, my 870s for ducks and turkeys, and another modified 870 for home defense. My old Springfield pump is for general truck duty and snake charming on the fishing boat.
A390 for trap/skeet but can fill in for other duties if needed.
I'm sure I could find a good excu....uhh....perfectly logical reason not to get rid of any of them. Yeah, maybe at some point some of them will need to find new homes, but not today.
